When 20,000 people sing your first single back to you 50 years after you recorded it, I think it's a pretty good indication you've made it. His voice has changed a bit with the years. I still love him so much. Saw him live in 1986 or 1987. If you get a chance, check out the original video for this.

Rebeka. I Saw Billy Joel live in Denver. 19,000 people. He did "Piano Man" last song. When he strapped on the harmonica the place roared. All 19,000 swayed with the waltz beat for the whole song and lit up their phones. Great feeling. Great fun.

Love your videos Rebeka. This song was my introduction to Billy Joel when I was 19 (yes I'm old) and is still one of my favorites of his. BTW as you may not know, the intro tune he played where fans were singing is "Take me out to the ballgame" and is played at baseball games during the 7th inning stretch. That's when teams switch between being at bat and being out on the field in the 7th inning of a game, and fans get up to stretch after sitting for so long and sing along. As the concert was at Shea (pronounced 'SHAY') Stadium where the New York Mets baseball team used to play, the fans of course joined in.

He did 2 shows with 2 show in between because the first one sold out so fast. I was at the last one and it was the best concert ever. Next month I’ll see his last residency show at the garden and it will be my 26th Billy concert. The Shea concerts were 55,000 people each show. It was amazing.

5:45 am here n Nashville. Not the biggest Joel Fan, but this Classic is fukn fantastic! Ur absolutely right! As a 51 yro music fan & performer who's heard this song 4 decades, I was tearing up from the start & thought I was just being a nostalgic wussy!😅 Know that I am, but thanx 4 the good morning. I needed it, friend!... "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayel of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." -Ralph Waldo Emerson Congrats & Best Wishes!🙏 See ya! 🤘😎❤

Love this song💞 the sound of it the feel of it. I've watched you're reactions for a while now. Idk why but I like to see others feels for music. Kind of inspires good vibes and you are giving a service by keeping great songs in the light by creating a new platform for them to be heard again. Its ALL good. I've just taken a little time to look up and grab links to some songs I hope you will give a listen to and maybe do a reaction or two. Some are studio some are possibly the best live performances you ever saw. All are great songs. Good rhythms great lyrics with meaningful context. Make you feel the music. For me its the feels I get from a song that defines how much I love it. I've just remembered a couple of pink Floyd songs I've not seen you react to. You need them to complete your pink Floyd react set. I'll get links and put them on this videos comments. Save you that time to search them so you can take 45 mins out to enjoy ....no...LOVE these songs im sharing to you here. I'll let each one be like a gift to unwrap. You'll just have to open each one to know what and who it is. Much love to you sis and to you're family. ✌😉💞

I highly recommend that you react to "Scenes from an Italian restaurant" from the same concert at Shea. You will LOVE it. (and it's probably Billy's best song along with NY state of mind). Thank you again.

I love Billy! Here's a guy who could have gone on releasing albums, having a tupé and do surgeries to keep himself looking younger. What did he do? He said, fuck I'm older and now I'm gonna stop getting in the way for new artists, no tupé or face-jobs... Just be who he is for REAL! I have so much respect for this man, and oh does he not look more handsome for it?!

Ok, I'm going to start a Comment Below. Joel's pop music career was good. But this following question has always bugged me for ages because I can't find a good answer. Of course, the only places you could hear Joel's latest pop songs at the time were on pop radio stations and music video channels. But his songs do not have a traditional pop sound. The best way I can describe his songs are stuff you would hear at a big budget Broadway play because his songs have a unique visual theme to them. The only other act that comes close to sounding like Joel is Steely Dan, but Steely Dan is clearly Jazz pop/rock. Joel does not have enough jazz infusion for his songs to be classified as jazz pop/rock. So, the question is, what genre is Billy Joel? For now, I'll stick with "Broadway Pop" until someone comes up with a better answer.

@@cmoeller3 I'll make the question way much simpler. What music genre is Billy Joel's Music? To me, it sounds like something you would hear at a Broadway play, something like Little Shop of Horrors. His songs are very theme oriented. For example, The Downeaster "Alexa" sounds very pirate theme.
