I've been a fan of his since 1992, I met him in 1999. it is a true song, Sandy Cane was an actual vet from the Vietnam war. He was 32 to 35 in this video. He and his ex wife wrote this song, with Don Von Tress. The song became an anthem to soldiers everywhere, the song gained national acclaim after the 9/11 attacks. His talent shows in most everything he does but this song, well it's timeless. More than once his music has helped me, saved me from taking my own life at 13 (she's not crying anymore is the song). the song is from the early 1990's nearly 30 years later it evokes a feeling in many, that is the power of music, and Billy Ray has a gift. Thank you for your service! and for a great reaction to my favorite singer....

I was a Navy Hospital Corpsman (Medic) in Vietnam (3 Tours). I had 4months of basic medical training and two months of combat medical training. One of my tours in Vietnam I was on a ship in the Mekong Delta. Me and another corpsman were the only medical personnel on board. We were taught that during combat conditions we were to be on opposite ends of the ship. The 2 corpsmen we replaced were together during a fire fight and they both got killed.. I saw a lot of young bodies torn apart. Some I could not save. This song kills me every time I hear it. Billy Ray Cyrus wrote this song as a tribute to all military people. He has toured a lot of Military Hospitals and performed for the guys over seas.

Most people don't really understand until they walk among those hallow hills in Arlington National Cemetery or any the many cemeteries around this country!!I thought I knew given Military family here, until I was laying wreaths on those heros buried in Arlington last December.🇺🇲👏👍

He was 32 to 34 in this, the song is a true story about a Vietnam Vet Named Sandy Cane that Billy Ray and his Ex wife met. The song spawned the Iconic phrase "All Game Some, Some Gave all" it was released on his debut album in 1992 of the same name. By far this song should be heard more and more. This is the year he was first sign to Mercury Records with his debut album Some Gave All. He wrote it for the vets and when he was 30 he went in to the record company and told the vice president and president of Mercury Records if this is not good enough then he should be doing something else. So BRC played his best song he wrote then the vice president said " I'm gonna structure you a little deal " and he went out to get the company's president and when they both came back to the office said this must be a big day for you Mr. Cyrus. So after 10 year after going from New York to LA to Nashville up and down the highways... someone finally said yes. And the funny thing with the song Achy Breaks Heart it was not originally done by BRC... it was done by a band Caledonia The Marcey Brother's and the song was originally called Don't Tell My Heart. The song writer was Don Von Tress. And he still to this day works with BRC. 17 albums now and many shows and movies he has done... he's still doing very well and is my favorite singer.
