Great to see more attention coming to the subject. I'm an undergrad working at an aging lab, and have been talking nonstop to my colleagues about how bioelectrics and theories of basal and multi-scale cognition could have huge implications on the longevity field.

Also I would like to add that Benjamin's idea of using bioelectric states to induce reprogramming via less invasive means is what I believe to be one of the most immediate applications of bioelectrics on longevity. I've previously thought about looking at the patterning surrounding intestinal lining cells since they are an example cells that are naturally reprogrammed in vivo.

which lab do you work, I am hugely interested in Systems Biology and Systems Medicine and bio-electricty. Micheal Levin's work is just out of this world! Wish we could talk ? I am a BS/MS EE/CS working in Fortune 10 company as a Staff Systems Engineer. DM and we can talk more!

One of the least well known uses of bioelectrics (in the good ole USA) is pulsed magnetic therapy. It induces currents within the body to ..heal non fusing bones .. speed slow healing wounds... mitigate migraines ... and in my case heal a crushed lumbar disk after 40+ years.

I successfully used a 9 volt battery to quicken bone growth around a tooth that had a root canal. Surgeon said “keep doing whatever you’re doing” because bone growth was almost complete in 6 months.

Excellent - much thanks to Benjamin Anderson. Possibly bio-electricity is the way to the quantum field - not via the sub-conscious brain, as some Neuro scientist are postulating.

That's a really nice problem to have, when cost is your biggest problem. In Europe, every research that handles cells falls under genetics and is heavily regulated. Certify your lab, get approval for each experiment and wait until the government gives you the green light

The link between the Warburg effect, aging, and the mitochondrial calcium channel has been established from a number of studies I looked at. It also relates to a constant drop in ATP/ADP ratio with time, and an increase in oxidative stress after an organism hits reproductive maturity. Is it possible to reverse these changes using bioelectric signals? that would indeed be interesting to see!

I've always preferred the idea of using electromagnetism for medical applications over drugs, but unfortunately it's pretty underdeveloped medical technology.

Mesmerizing topic! Perhaps this work is prime for someone to make semiconductor mods to gene chips for downstream analysis in mass of what Ben postulates. Ben will need an abundance of $$$ resource to explore these ideas. Really exciting field. Where does one donate?

Quick QUESTION: with any anti-aging supplement or molecule, what happens if one stops using it? will aging accelerate if one stops using these supplements? If we start any anti-aging supp, do we need to take it for the rest of our lives?
