these videos are honestly, not even joking, are so helpful?????? My textbook had like 20 pages of this chapter but only these 3 videos ddid it for me and i could easy solve the questions except some memorizing. THANK YOU FOR THESE!!! No, the excess ions and waste is diffuse into the dialysis fluid filtering the blood and then returning it straight into the blood without the blood taking in more nutrients

yeah because of the concentration gradient, the dialysis fluid containing extra glucose and good stuff will diffuse into the blood stream so u don't lose any of the important stuff that u really need

Hey dont think you explained how the dialysis gets rid of urea , but I may be wrong

this may not be completely correct - there is no urea in the dialysis fluid which means there is a steep concentration gradient between the patient's blood containing urea and the fluid containing no urea. This allows for urea to diffuse across the partially permeable membrane from the blood into the fluid so there is no harmful urea left in the blood.

wait a minute but how does a dialysis machine manage the correct amount of water needed by the body to be reabsorbed since the machine is an external object and can't be controlled by ADH? How will we know what amount of water is needed to be reabsorbed by the patient if we can't use ADH?

the dialysis fluid contains the right amount of fluid that absorbs the contents of healthy blood, water ions, etc. So it it just removing excess water from the blood ensuring a right amount of water in the blood. It isn't reabsorbed I think, just water is diffused until it reaches its equilibrium
