I love how this game's story can be really confusing and deep with a lot of twists and turns, and yet somehow, you still get to feel everything you are supposed to feel. Elizabeth's loneliness, Booker's regret, the way their relationship reflects a father-daughter relationship, and how they are both what they have been looking for during all of their lives. It's amazing.

@@DinoBoy31when they thought about it, the story was confusing to them, (it is confusing a bit for me too) the fact you hold 2 guns instead of every gun, which yeah, i see it being a bit of a problem, but i guess it's more realistic on how much you can carry. Lady Comstock turning into a ghost, which is confusing. I should also mention all the trailers for the game, it went from just like something you'd see in bioshock 1 except with a city in the sky, to a realistic war with the vox populi and comstock (my personal favorite) and this version that was more action packed then horrifying. Other then that, i don't know any more reasons.

Something I absolutely love is that the bird and the cage are one and the same. On first glance, without context, the bird represents freedom as opposed to the cage's prison. But the songbird is Elizabeth's cage. There is no meaningful choice in this moment, all player choice is an illusion that leads to the same outcome. As is a major theme of the franchise.

Funnily enough I just started playing this again yesterday after a few months absence and I still am not impressed with it, especially after having played Dishonoured and Dishonoured 2, which in my opinion are the real sequels to BioShock 1 and 2. The whole premise of a floating city in the sky and having to get around on sky rails is just ludicrous unlike the idea of a city underwater, which is not unfeasible. The menu interface is a mess and I can never remember what the powers do from their names. The graphics don't even compare to BioShock 1 and 2 and aren't a patch on Dishonoured 1 and 2 either. I'm only playing it because it's on PS Plus and it's taking up space on my hard drive that could be put to better use.

I feel like people give this game a hard time (judging from the many articles written about it on the occasion of it’s 10-year anniversary) mainly because they dislike or object to the whole “Fitzroy is no better than Comstock” element to it. While I understand the perceived moral imperative of making Daisy a true hero, standing up against her racist and fanatical oppressors, I feel like Ken Levine looked through history, probably most specifically at the French and Russian revolutions, and noted that very often this is the case with violent revolutions: the oppressed become the oppressors. Perhaps this is a tough pill to swallow in 2023 with our renewed (and justified) focus on racial inequalities and systemic oppression in our own culture, but I think it’s a more honest look at revolution and how it tends to play out than if they had simply made Daisy Fitzroy a fully sympathetic heroic figure.
