The neck of the femur is more horizontal and longer in the Australopithecus than Homo. This would create more hip mobility and perhaps facilitate a stride which was longer and less side to side than Homo. If so, Australopithecus may have been a better biped. One theory says the changes in Homo were to facilitate larger headed childbirth. What do you think?
