Also, your wife’s opinion is right lol. But they look like that because baby shoes are actually made to accommodate the natural foot shape, while standard adult shoes aren’t. This is how shoes SHOULD look for every stage of life.

Brenston review. The shoes looked and felt great. Unfortunately, the leather isn't the greatest in the toe cap. My job as a pilot requires me to be fairly active in my shoes, climbing ladders and crouching/kneeling to load cargo. The toe cap on both my shoes ended up getting permanent dents which look awful. I was just past the 30 day no question asked refund window, so that was a fairly expensive failed experiment. I did gain some knowledge about Birchbury and their customer service, however.

You need work boots for that kind of work though, with toe caps. Even steel toe work boots can offer toe caps to protect the front when you kneel a lot. I’d only use these casually, like commuting or just going out.

It's so funny that these/barefoot shoes do look like kid shoes. Specifically because kid shoes are meant to be healthier for the development of the foot for the kid! We just don't keep doing that through adulthood... haha. It DOES feel like more shoe brands could make a wider toebox without looking like a kids shoe and that would increase comfort dramatically.

@@elvito9393 I ended up getting the casual Birchbury in black and the dress version in brown (I forget their respective names). They included normal laces with each pair that I ended up using because my left and right foot fit shoes differently, and I'm really happy with them. That they also include the additional laces makes it even more appealing as if someone has odd feet like mine, they can always switch to the regular laces.

I'm trying the brown version of these out as a switch up. But for the exact opposite of this shoe (instead of minimal no support, bendable shoe, a more solid arch support style) is the Birkenstock Bend. Those come in white and black (I got the white). For black ones, I got the Samuel Hubbard Dress Fasts, those are just more fancy/formal.

@Andrew different shoes have different purposes. Aesthetics is a purpose. If you disagree, then you are saying this shoe we are even talking about is pointless. Their whole selling point is to "look good while being comfortable". I'm simply saying, they don't look good based on today's standards. @@hewster1 They look much more like a normal shoe than most minimalist shoes, and like I said, it's entirely subjective. Wider sizes of regular shoes still are wider in the mid foot but still have too narrow toe box and too much cushioning.
