You didn't set out to record a tutorial, Gary, but I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot. Those of us who are less experienced photographers really appreciate it when you go through step by step on how to achieve an image. Obviously you can't do it all of the time but every now and then would be fantastic.

Great video Gary nice to see the wife or should I say the boss. That’s where I cut my teeth wildlife a photography with a Nikon F3 film camera used to cost me a fortune 36 exposures if you was lucky to good pictures how times have changed now you can take 400 peaches doesn’t cost you anything unless you print them only the ones you want. Are used to go round the Woodlands find old logs with moss all over them take them home drill some holes in them Squeeze fat balls into the holes attach it to my birdfeeder and wait patiently haven’t done that for years seeing you out there doing this has inspired me to have another go once again thank you very entertaining as always

One guy who does a lot of bird photography on yt suggested using manual mode on camera and just using auto iso. It will probably end up being the same settings as shutter priority since you generally shoot birds wide open aperture if you want higher shutter speeds.

Hi Gary, great video as always. I cannot agree more about not looking at the display every time you take a photo of a bird - I see it all the time when I'm in a hide or at a reserve and the number of times the person behind the camera actually misses a shot because they're looking back at what they've just taken is unbelievable! I'm at the point where I NEVER look at what I've taken until I get home and upload all the images onto the computer, but I truly think I'm in a minority of people who do this! And on top of that, it's actually something I really look forward to doing because I don't already know what images I've captured before I get home - that's quite exciting. So I just want to concur with what you recommend - apart from taking a couple of test shots at the start of the session, leave to display part of the camera alone, you'll get more successful bird shots if you do!
