I get aluminum pie plates from dollar store, poke a hole, put string from garden Post to garden Post. Tie a knot 6 inches from each side of the pie plate so the wind can make the plate slide a total of 12 inches on the string. The noise and shiny moving plate does the rest.

Simple, free and in spirit of recycling method of warding off birds: cut into 1" - 1.5" strips plastic grocery bag of contrasting color, e.g. white, then tie some of these strips around area you want to protect. Works like a charm.

I attached a few long tapes to my window frames hanging loose. Even without the slightest breeze we now have peace and quite. Before we were plagued by pigeons. My tapes are very thin and nearly translucent, as I do not want my surroundings look untidy with all these pieces of foil.

I tried something similar, attaching foil strips to my satellite dish to stop birds perching on it. It worked for about a week then one morning I found that every strip had been pulled off. Every single one! So either I have some especially brave birds around here or they just got used to it and decided to take action. Either way it’s not a game I’m going to repeat.

When I lived in Minnesota, we had lots of woodpecker issues. I wish I had known about this product then. Now, I live in the woods, so I guess the birds have other things to eat. They don't bother my house or my garden. They do like our blueberries, but we have so many bushes I don't mind sharing. however, I only have one Mulberry tree and they eat that. I'll have to try this - and put some in the top of the tree. I don't like the netting either.

We have one woodpecker that we joke is not too bright because he keeps pecking at our aluminum gutters. LOL! But for the most part we don't see many woodpeckers - probably because we don't have many trees.

Here in Australia we have these horrible birds called ‘minor birds ‘which attack people’s pet cats just sitting in their yard and the push native birds out of their nests !!! They’re the nastiest little birds I’ve ever seen ! This sounds like a great solution for those people trying to protect their little pets. Not sure if we have it here but will check out our Bunnings store . Ps just subbed . Thanks for your great vids 🤗👍

I hope this tape works because one of my cats is a hunter who loves to bring birds home. It’s sad and I always have to go to our local wild life sanctuary to bring the birds in hopes they can save them. In lieu of keeping the cat locked in the house, I hope this tape works to keep the birds at bay.

I bought that same scare tape recently. I have a tree in front of my home and birds are always in it. They leave droppings on my mailbox. Where they are in the tree, is too high up to reach with my ladder. Do you think getting the scare tape around the truck of the tree as high as I can would work? Or maybe if I nail them in there so it can blow in the wind

Well, the definition of “tape” is a thin strip of a substance. Are cassette tapes a rip off since they don’t stick either? Kind of a strange point to get hung up on.
