The baobab forests in western Angola are home to a great diversity of fauna, including mammals, birds and other animals, though only fragments of the great baobab forests that once covered large parts of the Angolan coast remain.
The baobab forests near the Santa Ambuleia community in north-western Angola are still in good condition, at this site the local bird-watching guides have recorded 130 species of birds, of which 5 are endemic to Angola and 10 are species with restricted distributions.
