I love owls so so much, they are such beautiful, mysterious creatures. I don't hear them at night in the suburbs, just cars and when they stop, pure silence. Though I do believe I heard one when I lived semi-rural. It was usually silent at night there, too. But one night I heard a sound I had never heard before. I would say the barn owl samples sound the closest to what I heard

Infact the sound at the start of the video is exactly what it sounded like, thought it was softer, I believe that is simply because it was in a tree the next street over or so. But from that distance away, and with more of a break between the sounds, it was so hard to work out what it was. It was almost like a raspy high pitch breath noise breaking through the otherwise utterly silent night. Such a relief to have finally worked out what I heard. And such a beautiful video

Thank you so much for your amazing footage and work. Tonight I had a visitor (tawny frogmouth), singing on the gutter of my roof. Thanks to you I managed to identify it’s song. He flew off into the night when I went to peek at him. Thank you

There is an owl outside my house that makes a sound like a super low pulsing hum. Maybe half a dozen of these hum/hoot sounds in the same deep thrumming tone. Then a pause for 5 to 10 seconds then it goes again... I've seen it in the dark on the corner of the house roof. May I ask what type of owl this is? Thank you.

Its 1 am, There is a bird outside, going like "woo .... woo ... woo ... woo" in regular 3 second pauses. The sound of the woo is like one of those in movies with submarines, like, it is a very deep sound, not the classic woo woo of the owls in movies. Im so angry i cant find what kinda bird or owl it is. Anyone knows?
