I am very thankful for Mother Angelica. I was still Lutheran when I heard her talking about the 400 Year Apocalyptic Cycle recorded in Esdras. I was still Lutheran at the time. It was like a breath of fresh air to me breathed of the Holy Ghost. I had heard of Esdras but I never considered it Scripture. It was around that time I started a Private Devotion to the Virgin May by the Rosary. It was around that time I had deeply considered the Franciscans and found an understanding that was more peaceful in the veins of Eastern Mysticism. I hope this world is not deceived by the propaganda out there trying to present Mother Angelica as an angry demon. Some of the movies out now are trying to present Mother Angelica as demonic. Mary, Mother of God, pray for Mother Angelica.

Mother Angelica was witty, funny and so sincere in what she said. I am a Catholic "returnee" and I came across EWTN about a year in a half ago after my Mom had died, and there she was sitting in her chair, joking around with the studio audience and the audience watching her. She made it very easy to realize what I had been missing for a lot of years. God Bless you, Mother Angelica, and Thank You!

I love how Mother Angelica addressed an issue pointed out by many atheists in my circle which is the issue of suffering. why would God be so vengeful so to speak and if there was a god why is there so much ugliness and sadness in this world. A deep exploration of Catholic understanding particularly from the angle of mother Angelica's view on suffering answers that very question... the Catholic church for me after many years of study remains the only religion in the world that addresses the issue of how one suffers and sometimes must suffer and how it relates to the soul and divinity of Jesus Christ.

St Catherine of Siena “I have shown you, dearest daughter, that in this life guilt is not atoned for by any suffering simply as suffering, but rather by suffering borne with desire, love, and contrition of heart. The value is not in the suffering but in the soul’s desire. Likewise, neither desire nor any other virtue has value or life except through my only-begotten Son, Christ crucified, since the soul has drawn love from him and in virtue follows his footsteps. In this way and in no other is suffering of value. “ Source: Catherine of Siena, The Dialogue

Two things she said made a huge impression on me. 1) I was raised Protestant, and never understood how the highest angel, who reported directly to God and *knew* without a doubt that he (the angel) was created and could not possibly replace God - how this angel could decide to rebel against the ultimate authority of all existence. But Mother explained: God approached his angel and said "I'm going to create a human son and you will henceforth be reporting to him and his mother". So the angel, in his pride, saw that as the ultimate demotion, and left Heaven. 2) A caller once asked Mother "When I'm at confession, if I forget to confess one of my sins, does that mean that God won't forgive that sin?" -- And Mother replied "Only if you forget on purpose".
@blanktrigger8863

"You will henceforth report to him AND HIS MOTHER" is something that she fabricated. The text indicates that Adam was already king over Satan, which is what the "made in the image of YHWH" language indicates. The "image of the gods" was the nephilim/demigod king and/or emperor of the pagan world. Thus, the Adam was king (and thus the born-again person being returned to that state "will rule over the angels" after the resurrection). So you see the Serpent deceiving Adam is the usurpation of his kingship. To throw Mary into the mix requires severe eisigesis.

God doesn't need nuanced speakers, Bishop, he proved that with his choice of the 12. He needs people like Mother Angelica who makes things happen through her obedience. Colleen Posadas my bad, I'm confused."..you said she taught without being wish-washy in your comment...I agree. There's a bunch of other historical figures that don't teach "wish-washy." The semantic term for that is fundamentalism. If you believe that she is the voice and deciding factor of life, that's cool, but I believe only god is in a position to do that.
@blanktrigger8863
3 жыл бұрын
@@pandaamachine Wickedness counterfeits the Truth, so pointing to a wicker group of people who counterfeit true behavior is itself a counterfeit of caring about righteousness - if you cared about righteousness you wouldn't be using fallacies. So you've just exposed yourself. Second he same anecdotal tactic can be turned against "self-introspection". Many more wicked people have been subjectivists than fundamentalists, ergo the KKK are subjectivists who willfully misinterpret the bible, much like marxists (who have also been historical terrible). Likewise were the nazis, who mixed German paganism with the NT and threw away the OT in order to erase Yeshua's identity as Israel's Messiah. If these people are fundamentalists then they are fundamentalists about their subjectivism, which makes the term meaningless, as every subjectivist is a fundamentalist about their subjectivism (as you are with both your comments). More examples would include literally the whole of pagan history btw. Hinduism in particular traces all the way into the modern day with its caste system. And African paganism has been horrendous for Africans and Haitians etc. Third, to put introspection and fundamentalism at odds is silly, given that subjectivists never question their subjectivism to begin with. Even when presented with logical analysis to the contrary, as I'm sure you will demonstrate if you reply to this. That said, the fact of the matter is, your definition of fundamentalism is very loose and doesn't mean much of anything, as explained above. "Wishy-washy" = being unreliable and changing under the slightest pressure. That you're defining fundamentalism as the opposite of that is nonsensical given that you're trying to paint fundamentalism as a bad thing. This then means that you must be redefining "wishy-washy" in your slavery to biochemistry in an attempt to manipulate the OP into being slave to said emotionalism. Which likewise means that you've created an entirely new topic whilst pretending to reply to the OP in order to shift the argument into new terms that sound favorable for you view. So the OP hasn't even been addressed when all is said and done.

I was Presbyterian then but I knew who she was because I watched EWTN semi-regularly because it originated from Birmingham AL, my hometown. I wish now that I had asked her then the one thing that was keeping me away from the Catholic Church. In 2019, I got my question answered and started RCIA and was confirmed in 2020. We moved later that year and only a short distance from her Shrine in Hanceville AL. In my heart, I know she prayed for me to come home.

Overall a very good and appreciated summary of the truly special life of Mother Angelica. Unfortunately, at the very end he had to in some sense "throw her under the bus" with such commentary, he could have made his point in a bit more refined fashion.. The good Bishop should have bit his tongue, the Church has shown throughout the ages of the wisdom of the little ones, those considered in their day as "lacking a really high level of theological education; or certain polish" as Therese of Lisieux and Faustina Kowalska or the voice of the Spirit coming via some others also considered "un-nuanced, a little bit unbalanced" saints as Catherine of Sienna or Teresa of Avila . The passage of time will eventually define if her reactions should be characterized as being unbalanced and "hot tempered" versus righteous anger guided by bold grace and shining truth - appropriate considering the difficulties of the present day.

+The Gruntled Monk : A reasonable hope based on the lovefilled excruciating sacrifice made by christ ... yes its possible to reason so. However, during Noahs flood (8 people survived) destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (4 people survived) and St Peter in one of his letters says "If the righteous are barely saved, what will happen to godless sinners?" among many other biblical narratives implies that the number of saved will be few. . Mother Angelica probably wouldn't agree with Fr Barron because she is less of a theologian and more of a mystic. Mystics generally don't dilly dally with "inclusive" words. Personally I think only a few people will be saved and a large number lost, inspite of Gods best efforts...

+The Gruntled Monk Hiya, TGM! Fancy seeing you round here! Have you ever heard the saying "Pray as if it all depended on God, work as if it all depended on you"? I think we must be hopeful about the salvation of all souls. After all, He "desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (1 Tim 2:4). Jesus certainly desires to give us His mercy and forgiveness. He does not send His Mother on fruitless missions! But we must work as if it will not come to fruition without putting our utmost out there for God towards that ends. It really is in our hands. _Our_ response is where the weight rests; God has already responded. And, with Saint Paul, we can say God does _desire_ all men to be saved and come to know Truth. Whether that translates into a dogmatic Universalism... who knows.

+ChesterKhan Hello Chester. We can reasonably hope that all men CAN be saved, but not Will be saved. Our Lord made it quite clear that few will go through the narrow gate. The Blessed Mother at Fatima said souls were falling into Hell like snowflakes. The saints said most will be damned. It's this kind of foolish thinking that's killing the Church and letting souls die in mortal sin. It's thinking straight out of the protestant playbook. For a Bishop as smart as Bishop Barron to push this idea is tantamount to heresy. How many of the numerous followers of Bishop Barron will believe this and spend eternity in Hell? Bishop Barron needs to wake up to his duty as a shepherd of the flock. His sheep are being ravaged, while he's musing on heretical nonsense.

Thanks for sharing those two stories, Bish. I never got to really see her at work, although I've heard about her. For those people who are baiting atheists and arguing about events, don't do it. An unbeliever is a person that you probably would have been if not for the grace of God. A friend of mine let me borrow that book. I'm on Chapter 2.

In response to Libya Think Tank, I had my conversion surfing through the channels and landed on EWTN. The Feast of SS Peter and Paul was being televised from the Vatican. The English narrator for EWTN was talking about Christ asking his apostles, "Who do you say that I am?" ............and as we all know the narrative, Christ is handing over his apostolic succession and magisterium of His Church to Peter, and the gates of hell will not prevail over It. Also, whatsoever, You bind on Earth will be Bound in Heaven and whatsoever you loose on earth will be Loosed in Heaven". I fell into tears, and knew after 25 years of searching for a church and God, I wanted to become Catholic. I was so stubborn natured, the divine providence of God through the many Fatima prayers offered during each rosary said around the world led God to allow me to see and hear for the first time in my life. I no longer wanted to live as the world lives, but I promised Our Blessed Mother because Heaven had given me such a beautiful pearl, I would change from my old nature to a new nature, one that would not offend Our Lord. Yes, the local parish taught RCIA, but it was by listening to Robert Barron, Johnette Benkovic, and Mother Angelica Classics that fed my soul before I could receive the sacraments. Also, praying the rosary, attending mass and reciting Catholic prayers from the Pieta Prayer book all were like balm being placed over my sinful scars. It was nice to believe in the one true God that loves each and every one of us. So please, do not under-estimate the power of God coming through to His disciples on earth who said, "yes lord, I will do your will", like Mother Angelica and Bishop Robert Barron. So many elderly, disabled and needy souls watch EWTN because they cannot drive to the local parish. We have to believe the three key elements Bishop Barron highlighted, "Divine Providence, The Supernatural and Suffering" will bring us closer to the Kingdom of Heaven. My local parish priest told me to pray for supernatural graces. They were all answered immediately. When Christ said, "ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find and knock and it will be opened unto you". As long as our heart desires God, fervently, He delivers on His Word!!! Will be praying for Mother Angelica's intercession because Our Catholic Saints are our best friends! "How awesome is our Church" by Mother Angelica. ...loved hearing her say that.

My beloved daughter, you have come through a terrible persecution, which I permitted to free your soul from the torments of Hell. You are now free and your spirit will enable you to spread My Word, so that mankind can be released from the suffering that awaits them, should they be so foolish as to succumb to the evil one. You, My daughter, were sent right from the start. I Am making you stronger all the time, in but a few days. What do you think you will be like in a week, a year or two? A fighter, brave to the last, you will work with Me to clear the souls of My dearly beloved children, for whom I hold a deep and utterly loving Compassion. The Love courses through My Veins like a river. My Compassion never dwindles, despite the fact that they turn the other way. Your Divine Saviour Jesus Christ ss3

It's strange. Mother Angelica had been sick and silent for 15 years. But now that she's gone it feels as if there's a void, like she had been there the whole time, even when we weren't even aware of it. This must be a testimony to the spiritual legacy of her work, her suffering and her prayers. Thank you for this essay, Bishop Barron!

A SWEET MIRACLE OF THE Lord - met her author - kzitem.info/news/bejne/tamXr6SCbF-iq3Y BEEN WATCHING RELIGIOUSLY SINCE 2011 after an incident that this assembly of God Pastor's widow heard Mother Mary attacked in a salacious way . Mother who proves up JR Church's principle that the psalms prove that we are in the last 150 years of this earth because she passed in front of us all in 2016 and Psalm 116 is the verse " Beautiful is the death of the saints " Beatify her
