Slightly unrelated, but I’m new to the sax and was having trouble reaching lower notes consistently and pushing my lip corners into the sides of the mouthpiece helped me reach full range with a lot less jaw stress. Thanks for the tips!

My bottom lip is raw from practice yesterday. I'm pretty sure that's why my high notes sound squeaky. Great video, thanks!

I do bite hard, but if i relax it too much my lip position begins moving down the mouthpiece. Thank you for taking time in making the videos and passing on your expertise. Dave, from the UK.

Yes. I definitely bite down too much, and yes this video helped, because I do often find myself being sharp and I wasn’t sure why. The biting would explain why. Thanks!

When I first started I never liked to use my tongue and in a trumpet fashion clamped down to keep air from escaping. I'd chew through the protectors in a week. When I concentrated on controlling stops and starts with my tongue I could relax and the Reed flows freely. Still bite a little but there's something about the teeth transferring the vibe straight to my brain and vice versa that makes me feel connected to the instrument. When you say it buzzes your teeth it's cause you're not biting hard enough where your skull is fused to brass with the mouthpiece as a translator. I just couldn't groove up expensive mouthpieces. New cheap 3D printed mouthpieces could make me not care. Now available in habanero, chipotle or lime mango.

you're probably biting because you are no using your embouchure properly. Check out my Get a Killer Saxophone Tone self study course: academy.donnaschwartzmusic.com/courses/self-study-get-a-killer-saxophone-tone-master-the-process-to-get-a-full-rich-tone-sound-like-a-pro/

Just a question about the placement of your ligature. I notice that it's quite forward on your embouchure and seems to touch the vibrating part of the reed. I'd like to hear you about that.

I overshoot altissimo G if I'm biting. Playing it is a useful way to make sure my embouchure is loose enough. Also I will do that Joe Allard thing where you slide down from one overtone to the next, all the way down to the root, bc if you're biting it's really hard to drop down. Also people call them tooth/teeth savers around here lol. I assumed that was universal.

@@DonnaSchwartz, it feels Lopsided and I noticed a little wear on the mouthpiece were the corner point of the tooth is. I also feel good about ending sentences with is. I measured a 11mm gap between my one front tooth and the tooth next to the missing front tooth. I made a gold front tooths bridge but that one broke like the real smack-a-rew. I still wear the gold tooths in my dreams tho but not my eye glasses and you probably should keep that part hush hush;D
