Today we start with the wacky Granny and the Gators by Bally Midway in 1983. This one combined a regular pinball table with an overhead video game section, you controlled Granny the explorer navigating her canoe and collecting treasure while avoiding gators. In the pinball section you unlock powerups. A really unique hybrid concept merging pinball with an action game.
We can't forget Intellivision's Pinball game from 1983 either. For its time, it had an impressive 3-level playfield (the first of its kind) and colorful graphics. The physics felt pretty realistic as you tried to rack up points by hitting all the bumpers and targets. It became a best seller for the console.
We finally leave the jurassic era of gaming with NES Pinball. A launch title for the console in both America and Europe. Bursting with personality and impressive physics it’s one many remember, which is why theres a special guest today to share their memories. No one can forget Mario’s bonus round. The Nintendo fun doesn’t end there though, we also cover Game & Watch Pinball, maybe the first portable pinball game.
Also covered is Vectrex Spinball, Pinball Wizard, Sega Flipper and more!
