Thanks! Your review is the most helpful I have seen. You addressed all of my questions about the Bivy stick. I just purchased one on Amazon but haven’t received it yet. Glad that you find it reliable and simple. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again for the great review.

Hey I'm also a Bivy stick fan. You probably know this but didn't mention in video. If you hold check-in button for 5 seconds you can start tracking and the status will blink blue. You can set tracking interval in the app, but it will work if you don't have a phone. That way you're still sending your GPS location via satellite every 10 mins or whatever interval you choose. So you don't have to send your wife so many messages haha.

You’re right! I didn’t mention that but maybe should’ve. But honestly, she’d be ok with me sending a check in like every 3 days or so & more than that would be too much 🤣🤣. But good point tho!

Nice review! We bought a Zoleo several months ago. We really like it, but not really sure about comparisons to Bivy Stick or Garmin Inreach.

If the grid went down and both locations had no service, do both the sender and receiver need separate Bivy sticks?

You got it! You both would simply text the Bivy stick phone number to communicate. And both would have to have the product in order to do so. Hope this helps

Hi Jason. If I don’t care about using the tracking with my Bivy Stick, do you know if there is a good reason to turn it on at the start of a hike? I am also wondering if I am out of cell service when I turn the Bivy Stick on if it will still connect with my iPhone. Another reviewer stated you needed to connect the device to your phone while wifi or cell service was available. That doesn’t sound correct, though. Thanks.

Hey Mark! As for tracking the only reason I could think of would be so others can track you from home. But there’s so many options for that which I agree with you, I don’t see a need for it. Plus, it’ll reduce your battery life. As for connecting, all I do is open the app & connect via Bluetooth right there & it works. Did this out of cell service too. Not sure what they were referring to with that one. I will advise, you have to reconnect your phone to the stick if you don’t use it for a while but that’s super easy & a good thing IMO because it saves on phone battery. But no, I haven’t had any issues connecting to the stick & then sending messages or getting weather reports when I’m out. Unless I’m in the tress & not out in the open. But that’s just how it works with this device which is rarely an issue. I usually use it when I’m out of tree line anyways. Hope this helps!!

@@jasonwondersoutdoors3702 yes, very helpful thank you! Actually using these devices is the only way to really know how they will work, and no one else out there is giving the kind of information that you have shared. So again thank you very much!

Hi Mark, you only need wifi/cell service for the initial setup (makes sense since you need a connection to register and sign up for a plan). After that you just need bluetooth turned on your phone to connect.

* Heads up; DO NOT USE THE SATELLITE PHONE STORE TO PROVIDE YOUR BIVY! * The Satellite Phone Store's Bivy that I have has been down for going on 2 months, and Barry Hipple at the Satellite phone store basically sent me an "F you" letter saying that even though they bundled the Galileyo service they are not at all responsible in helping me get the issue resoled. Not a company that you can trust your life with.

@@jasonwondersoutdoors3702 does the activation fee for the bivy stick, apply every time you activate a plan or a one time thing?
