🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:28 *🥋 Guard passing camping involves positioning yourself past your opponent's foot line, fatiguing them over time and creating asymmetrical work rates.* 01:23 *🤼 Inside camping in BJJ involves positioning within your opponent's guard to tire them out systematically over time.* 02:33 *🥋 Head low inside camping emphasizes head pressure into the far shoulder, using bottom and top arms for control, and positioning of the inside leg to prevent elevating.* 03:02 *🥋 Forcing half guard involves tiring the opponent and strategically maneuvering to flatten them out and gain control.* 05:30 *🥋 Shin Pummel is a common option from inside camping, exploiting openings created by opponent's movements.* 06:40 *🤼 Head high inside camping involves pressuring over the opponent's far shoulder and adjusting hip positioning for effective passing.* 07:51 *🥋 Forcing half guard from head high inside camping requires maintaining pressure while maneuvering around the opponent's defenses.* 09:43 *🥋 Addressing central problems in inside camping, such as countering the scoop grip, is crucial for successful passing.* 10:39 *🥋 Counteractions against the scoop grip involve various techniques including securing upper body grips, sprawling, and off-balancing opponents.* 13:55 *🥋 Dealing with half butterfly guard entails pulling out the hook, threatening with pressure, or manipulating the opponent's reactions.* 14:06 *🥋 Opportunistic body lock entries can occur when compromising the opponent's guard structure, leading to advantageous positions.* 14:42 *🥋 Roger Gracie's passing game, particularly his head high camping techniques, deserves recognition for its effectiveness and adaptability.* Made with HARPA AI

Great breakdown! Inside camping is an application of always applying pressure during passing, something Henry Akins talks a lot about. If you apply pressure the entire time, while shifting angles, it massively helps against inversions, and thereby leglocks.

Brilliant video. Quick question - is there a cue for choosing low vs high head camping? I'm guessing it would be opponent's choice of frames (say high head vs cross shoulder post)?
@BJJArmstrong
6 ай бұрын
Their frames can definitely affect what’s easiest to enter. There will be a couple reasons you may choose one position over another. An example being, if they are keeping a more open guard, it’ll be easier to be head high and sprawl on them typically. Head low can give you a lot of mobility so sometimes it also depends on your goals too.
@NiekMagnel
6 ай бұрын
A head high camp is also better if your opponent is already a bit tired or less explosive in general. You lack mobility without your head on their shoulder. So, when an opponent is fresh and explosive it might be better to first camp with the head low so you are more mobile and able to counter big movements from your opponent (f.e. an agressive dogfight entry attempt).

No idea why its called a position or camping, its a strategy with an end goal, there is not really a position, the fact is that it is often better to take your time passing because when done properly you maintain the pressure advantage and wear your opponent out and spend minimal energy.
@MacMowat
6 ай бұрын
Camping like when you set up in an annoying spot in a video game. Not committing fully for a pass while constantly maintaining the position to do so, feels similar to camping or even the BJJ version of edging 😂
@ryanthompson3446
6 ай бұрын
@@MacMowat i understand what is meant its just i think its not really equivalent and misses the point of what we are doing and why, there is no rush to pass other than time constraints, if this were a fight you would want every advantage and not to give up any advantage. And time would not be a factor, nor is there any rule or etiquette in a fight, there is only did you win or not, and out thinking and causing your opponent to get tired is a valid and real strategy, the whole camping thing just seems like a kids way of viewing a more complex and more involved situation.
@MathewMorales-qz7ci
Ай бұрын
@@ryanthompson3446this seems pretentious. Just because people process the world in a different way than you doesn’t diminish their understanding. If we want to argue “a real fight…” then I could say the real world time constraints are, people showing up to break up the fight, be it cops, or the opponents friends to cave your head in. We could go around for hours, but truth is, it would all be pointless. You’re clearly commenting just to be provocative and try and talk down to people because you assume some greater wisdom lies within you. The sad part is. I agree with your philosophy, on strategic pressure to fatigue your opponent, but not your narrow minded view of expressing it.

What do you think his cues are to transition from low head to high head? My best guess is when they have really good frames and are committed pushing your head away.
@vynongaming553

Yeah i question this too, I have researched and watch all instructionals and videos i can find on it. Only one instructional actually explains the low camping position and that is jason rau split squat passing, it is a bit different, and he gives more different options but good nonetheless. However, tbf from what i heard and my conclusion from watching eoghan talk about it and gordon ryan footage. It is up to your goals, the entry to both can be achieved even with high frames, jason rau talks about low camping passes with strong frames. So the frames and entries don't really matter . It is your goals on the pass. The head high seems to able to tire the person out quicker, tiring their abs and knee, don't ask me how, this is a quote from eoghan. And you basically sprawl and leaving your bodyweight across their knee shield and you just wait till they react and then you counter their drastic reaction because they are getting tired.. However, you can switch to low camp though to get more options. The low camp tires the person's depending on what you are trying to do. You are making them react by your movements on passing, there are more options in head low inside camp. More grips on their lower and higher leg, more mobile for your base and you can pass faster pace. It also tires the person out not to the degree of high camping. Well that is what i learned from different sources. Hope it helps
