Elijah Pearse My comment was in reply to Feiyang LI. I can see it isn't Karate. The convention in Karate tournaments is for one student to wear a red belt, and one to wear a blue one. Usually they are black belts, int he higher level tournaments. What you can't do is judge anyone by the belt they wear in a tournament. It is no more than an indicator to their peers, the people they train with, where they fit into the hierarchy of a particular style or club. Also, wearing a black belt in any style is no true indicator of ability. I am sure you've seen a lot of the Buillshido black belts on KZitem, particularly the no touch knockout scammers. Anyone can buy a black belt and set themselves up. With the right promotion they can even get students to join them and stay, because the students don't know any better. Have a good one.

If you want to, get a relative who has done a full contact art like muay thai or kyokushin which my dad did to learn wing chun and teach the good stuff to you as they know what works and what doesn't, and they also know the best way to train, which is sparring. not trolling at all. I have been in a lot of street fights and bar fights and VERY VERY few of them were 1v1 fights... At least 75% of the time it has been me against multiple attackers and BJJ is COMPLETELY USELESS in those situations. Don't take my word for it, tho... Just look up 'Maiquel Falcao gas station brawl'... It's a UFC BJJ master and his BJJ buddy getting the living shit kicked out of them by a group of fat, out of shape no-bodies who clearly have ZERO martial arts training. I have been in MANY fights very similar to the one in that video and never been seriously injured. THAT is what a 'real fight' looks like. You will notice that the BJJ experts don't even try to use their BJJ because they INSTINCTIVELY know that it is completely useless. BTW, Falcao's MMA buddy was so badly injured in the brawl that he had to be rushed to the hospital and had to have a large portion of his skull removed to relieve the swelling in his brain. It ended his career. The last place you want to be in a REAL FIGHT is a stationary target laying on the ground. Kung-Fu will not only teach you excellent striking and extremely unorthodox technique and footwork but it will also teach you 1,000s of techniques that are considered 'illegal strikes' in BJJ... Not to mention that Kung-Fu provides WEAPONS TRAINING which has, personally, saved me from great bodily harm on multiple occasions. Of course, there are plenty of fraudulent Martial Arts teachers out there and Kung-Fu is no exception. You have to find a reputable teacher with a verifiable lineage who does not neglect sparring and that is very uncommon in the West. Peace and be careful out there.

+flippitydoobot from my experience practicing bjj myself. unless he was at the end phase of a white belt there is no way he's at the beginning. when you're at the beginning there's no way your mind can process that fast at multiple transition. basically you're still trying to tackle the the best way for the position . with this guy he already looks semi fluid. I would know because I take classes at dethrone in fresno california. I'm still stuck on white for the last 4 months and a lot of students are still stuck on white because of this. we got the knowledge but our hesitation prevents us from moving on to the next rank. no way this guy is a straight up beginner.
@flippitydoobot

+Howie Duet he could be primarily nogi and just started in the gi, so still technically a white belt. I rolled nogi for a little over 2 years before i finally got the money for a gi. I guess grappling experience doesn't effectively transfer to a belt at some gyms, but I was tapping out 2 and 3 striped blue as a fresh white belt. I'm at the end of my blue and hopefully purple soon, coming out of Alliance MMA here in Hawai'i. In my 6th year total with jits, 2 nogi and 4 gi. I agree with you though, he's got to be at least nearing blue. How's the rolls out there? Hawaii is ultra competitive in jits, but I've always wanted to sample some mainland schools.
@flippitydoobot
8 жыл бұрын
+Howie Duet also, hesitation is very natural as a white belt, mainly because you second guess your actions when rolling with higher belts. just remember that the belt is only there to hold the gi together, the rest is on you. I suggest working technical sub lines with probably a 2 stripe blue or higher. once the transition for sub to sub to sub starts to feel fluid in the drill line, then have your partner up resistance gradually til about 75%. Then hard roll and focus on the drill transitions. that shit skyrocketed my confidence and adds more submissions to your bag of tricks.
@eternalfear
8 жыл бұрын
+flippitydoobot Dethrone is an alright gym. What I hate most is that at least 50% of the students are really big headed so everyone throws out a lot of drills and techniques when pressured. Most of the white belts doesn't often get a submission. Instead the bjj sparring session just turns more into like a wrestling match. I think in order to even pull off a submission you would have to be in pretty good shape to do so. I get some cops that train here sometime and trust me there's a reason why so many of them are stuck on white. Big pot bellys and have no stamina. I'm about 5'5" and around 140 pounds and even after rolling with a cop around 5'9" and 245 pounds you can tell that stamina and athleticism plays a huge factor. Don't get me wrong I was being severely overpowered in the beginning but after about 5 minutes of sparring the cop began to fade. A lot of people think that subs are not that hard to pull off but trust me when you're at least a little familiar on how to defend its very difficult. The only time I ever got close to submitting anyone is when they ran out of gas.

He was a white belt at the time. He is the owner of "TaiwanBJJ," although, he is not the instructor. I have sparred with him several times (I live in Taipei). Warren is a class act. He was a white belt for sure. He's also a doctor (just a side note).

So much for Kung fun, he made all the classic mistakes we train for in Jiu Jitsu, that arm bar (the second one was the perfect scenario for pulling one off) so was the rear naked choke, he just made it too easy for a Jiu Jitsu practitioner.

If you're gonna fight a BJJ guy practitioner you've gotta knock him out quickly because once he brings you to the ground you're screwed. When you're on the ground he has almost complete control and fancy combos and kicks will have no effect no matter how proficient you are.

all you need is a knee. oh no im being tackled at, knee.
@vamtheanomaly
7 жыл бұрын
That only works on grapplers who are too overzealous and don't use the natural position of the arms to defend from an incoming blow such as a knee. Also, its extremely dangerous to knee someone who is experienced as now youve given them a leg which leaves you standing on one leg. Sure the knee will cause an impact, but it isnt usually enough to stop the attacker and worse, you can't sprawl now as one leg is off the ground.

Vam The Anomaly it looked like he wasn't even looking when he went in. ik its dangerous that's why i like it.
@vamtheanomaly
7 жыл бұрын
Thats because he wasnt. He has dealt with knees before. People that tackle you and look straight ahead have never dealt with being kneed in the face. Those that seem to be not looking, have. In other words the reason he does that is to avoid getting kneed in the face. If a knee comes it will hit the top of the skull so its safer. As for actually looking? Well he is. He is just looking at what he is tackling, which is the legs.
