Without this scene it seems that Bjorn doesn't care of his children

Because he didn’t , I think it was to make us feel oh well at least with servants he can say goodbye , he let little sigi die , he could of had servants to look out for her , aslag was always drinking , the scene should of expressed more about his behaviour as a farther

Oh, come on! I don't understand why the hell They cut this scene! It completely changes the tone of Bjorn's farewell and his depiction! In the short version, He's seen as an indolent and unloving bastard, while in the extended one We can actually see that He's a benevolent father and a good husband... He even admits that He doesn't deserve all their love, 'cause probably He feels guilty for what happened with Astrid...

Bjorn a loving father and husband? When exactly? When he was fucking his own mother's lover or when he neglected to death his first child?
@EnricoCicilloni
3 жыл бұрын
@@megitufa5020 What I meant is that they cut out a lot of scenes that would give more depth to his character. This is one of them; another one is when Ragnar says goodbye to him for the last time (shown only in the extended version). And the list goes on... There are so many scenes like this one that have been cut in the TV version. I didn't say "a loving father and husban", i specifically said "a benevolent father" and a "good husband". The meaning is different. It's plenty of scenes in which he's shown playing with his children or telling them storyes and those scenes are put there to show how he loved them. You said He neglected his daughter, but in those times it was the mother who had to care for the children, not the father, and it was like that in all european cultures. And i said he was a "good husband", not a loving one, in the sense that he fullfilled all his duties as father. We can say for sure that he was unfaithful, but this is a trait he inherited from his father and to which many men in his position were subject to. These scenes would have helped to better understand the characters and to characterise them deeper. I really don't understand why they cut them out. Don't be too eager to judge these characters and, above all, try to see things whithin their context.

@@EnricoCicilloni you're just climbing mirrors and picking on words, even with added scenes Bjorn remains a shitty father and husband and it's not about context because Ragnar, his father, was what you call a benevolent father, he would have NEVER EVER abandoned his child like Bjorn did, heck he even married a woman he didn't love because she carried his baby let alone totally forget about an already born daughter. He not only cheated on his wife, he also cheated on his OWN MOTHER by fucking her lover. I don't know if it's the writer's fault (it probably is) but Bjorn is literally the dumbest, shittiest character on the show.
@EnricoCicilloni

@@megitufa5020 you mean the same Ragnar who abandoned all his children and his wife and disappeared for something like 10 years? Every man has his flaws Ragnar and Bjorn included... Anyway, you are talking about something I watched like 3 years ago... I'm a fan of the series since day 1 and I've already watched the last season of Vikings (sigh!). I can say that, after all, Bjorn is still one of the best characters and his demise is probably one of the best and most satisfying. So calm down and enjoy the show 😉✌🏻

This scene wasn't cut at all but there are some streaming/websites where you can watch this movie and some of them had this part cut but some had it in. I feel bad for the people who had theirs cut because this was crucial for Bjorn's character. He does care for their kids.

Ragnar was heartbroken about his daughter & was around his sons a lot until he had a breakdown over Paris , Bjorn is a terrible dad , he let one drown due to neglect & just says goodbye to the others , why didn’t he ensure his first was looked after he was a kings son , I wouldn’t of left a drowned rat with Aslag when she was drinking , she only cared about Ivar anyway

They shouldn't have left this scene out. I think Bjorn was damaged by his step dad Sigvard. Sigvard kept insulting his self esteem and Bjorn never talked back to him. Sigvard never loved Bjorn, he just wanted sex and control over his mother. He made a very bad decision but he was only a kid. Obviously this is not an excuse. I remember the tv drama mad men and how Don Draper had to fake loving his kids because his own dad was too abusive. He couldn't feel love for his kids but Don did a really good job at faking it, he knew he didn't want his kids to feel the way he felt towards his own dad.

Erik Björnsson was supposedly one of the sons of Björn Ironside and a legendary king of Sweden of the House of Munsö, who would have lived in the late 9th century. One of the few surviving Scandinavian sources that deal with Swedish kings from this time is Hervarar saga. The saga is from the 12th or 13th century and is thus not considered a reliable historical source for the 9th century. It says:

I'm still trying to figure out where Erik and Refil are now in Season 6. It makes zero sense that they're suddenly gone as if Torvi and Bjorn only had Hali and Asa. Refil would be old enough to go to war by now and take part in discussions. I guess they no longer fits the story line so we're supposed to just pretend they never existed like Bjorn did with Siggy?

Totally agree , the children aspects were dealt with v poorly , from Bjorn daughter who he could of had servants to watch her , to the others not even being around from one minute to a short scene , we were meant to be in ore of ragnars children yet it seemed to end there , terrible lack on continuity

Real life ~The sons of Björn Ironside were Eric and Refil. The latter was a warrior-prince and sea-king. King Eric ruled the Swedish Realm after his father, and lived but a short time. Then Eric the son of Refil succeeded to the Kingdom.

One problem with Vikings - BJORN CHILDREN , why was sigi literally ignored to her death , why were half of his children written in & out without continuity , it’s really odd , they had torvi son that Bjorn took 5mins of interest in till his death in battle & he cared about a brother he didn’t know was really ragnars son even after usually believing everything lagertha tells him / I love Vikings yet the children elements were a mess

Guthrum, (Torvi's son with Jarl Borg) Erik & Refil in this scene, Hali and daughter, Asa, were born later...but good luck confirming that. Erik and Refil used to each have their own fandom page, but they seem to have disappeared from the internet when they disappear from the show as if they never existed. The plot hole is more infuriating than the stilted dialogue that Hirst has developed.
