Walking the same path at all times of the year, in all weathers, is going to pay dividends. I have a woods in my village, mainly old beeches, that I wander around regularly, even without a dog to walk; I've even built cascades in the burn just to get some more movement in the water. Having a variety of natural environments in your local area gives you no excuses to slob out on the couch ... well not too much 😉

Good talk about going back to a place and find something new to photograph. Tthe leaves of the plants is a very nice image as well as the snail beside the leaf. Great video.

Seeing your photos makes me think of the title of a book by Malcoln Guite (which is a line from a poem I believe from someone famous) "Heaven in Ordinary." The simplest things can capture our attention if we will only "see" what is around us. The vertical ferns, the cones on the ground, the textures on the leaves, all of these things we can simply pass by without noticing when our heads are buried in our cell phones 🙄 Cheers!

Hi Dave. The photos of the ferns are indeed special. You never look at this beautiful plant in this way. It's no hassle at all for me to subscribe to both of your channels. I enjoy looking at both equally. In black and white, ordinary plants become something special. And if I saw it correctly, you had the Sony camera with you again? Very nice photos Dave. This is what I still need to master, simplifying my compositions. I often overwork them. But that's what learning is for. Another video that I thoroughly enjoyed watching, my friend. Thank you for the ride. Antoine.

Thank you Antoine, yes, I've been taking the Sony on our walls because it's such a nice compact package, I just ordered a Nikon f mount to Sony adapter to see if I can make my Nikon lenses work with this camera. I can see a benefit working in both systems. When the adapter arrives I will do a video to share how I'm getting on with that setup, as always, thank you for the kind words my friend!

Saw the fern composition as you walked by it. Like the vertical the best. Those spotted towhees are noisy. We don’t have them in the UK. First time we were on Van Isle after 24 hours travelling slumped into bed at 10pm but woke up 4 am in a daze and heard this strange sound like someone twanging a plastic ruler across a table edge. Later worked out it was a Towhee!😅

Yes Paul we have a lot of noisy birds and they can be so rude when some KZitemr is out trying to talk to the camera 😂 well that's nature for ya! I have a few other compositions of those ferns and had a hard time narrowing down which I liked best, I think the vertical is my favorite, a month from now I may wish I would have subbed out one of my other horizontal shots for the one in the video, sometimes I have to live with a shot for awhile to appreciate it.

Very inspiring. We forget that interesting images can come from the everyday things we see. Most of the time we don't really see them at all. I love the pic of the leaves at the end. That would look great as a big picture on a wall. How are you getting along with the Sony?

Thank you Scott, I'm enjoying the Sony, it's compact size makes for an enjoyable walk around camera. I have ordered a Nikon f-mount to Sony adapter to try out some of my most used primes, I usually like to use prime lenses for much of my photography so I'm hoping the adapter will give me more options when using the Sony. I can see a good case for using both the Nikon and Sony cameras.

@@DavidPattonPhotography Good idea to get an adapter. It will be interesting to see how well your Nikon lenses perform on the Sony.
