My last day of a two week solo ADV ride on my Honda Africa Twin Adv. Sports. I did Hancock Pass, Engineer, Cinnamon, and Ophir passes that week. On my last day on Black Bear Pass I had just completed "The Steps" without a hiccup and was riding a natural high, wasn't paying attention on the switchbacks, and that's where things always happen. The scenery is just too good to pay attention...yep that's what happened. I was lucky, if it happened anywhere else on that mountain things could have ended MUCH worse.
Thanks to the Jeeper who winched me out, and to everyone else who helped us out. Bryce, who was riding a KTM and just happened to also be riding at that time, helped me out by riding behind me the rest of the way to make sure I was alright. There are good people in the world. I was fine, the bike was beat up but mechanically fine. Honda bikes are bulletproof I tell you!
My Tusk Olympus Panniers were brand new for that trip. The left one took a beating on that fall but I am very impressed with how well they held up overall. Kudos to them, they helped stop my bike.
