I’m ngl, some black hairdressers do be unprofessional and tend to charge high prices that do NOT match their work. However, I do support them every chance I get and understand what they’re trying to do as far as business goes because HAIR is a huge thing in the Black Community not just for style but culture as well. Professionalism goes a long way so I encourage all black hair stylists to practice that the same way they expect clients to do. Also, be mindful who you allow to do your hair because some people carry energy that can be transferred to you so be careful who u let do your hair. Peace ✌🏽
@GraduateJLN

But why would you support someone who is clearly taking advantage of you because they’re the same race? They clearly don’t have any camaraderie with their black customers. Some of these bitches is charging us to blow- dry hair and requiring it be pre-washed and all this other shit that was originally free while doubling their prices, fuck that. I’ll take my ass to youtube and do my hair myself….

I think this has to do with lack of respect in the black community and the sense of entitlement. I remember being little and moms, aunties, cousins, homegirl down the street willing to do hair and charge what the person could afford. That came of a place of COMMUNITY and LOVE. Not monetary gain. These new hairstylist or instagram braiders just care about money and followers. It’s disgusting to tell another black woman or little girl I won’t do your hair because it’s 4c…….how discouraging and sad. This has set us back. I learned how to braid and if a girl or woman wants their hair braided I’ll do it for free, because I understand and value community. Black women if you can do hair offer to help other black women IF you can. Come from a place giving and not expect something in return, in the long run it pays off.

I understand everybody point of view especially now because it's all some BS. As a man dealing with barbers now the best decision I ever made was buying some Clippers and cutting my own hair majority of the time. KZitem barbers have taught me a lot and saved me plenty of money because barbers now are tripping with the prices. Some of these barbers will charge you 50+ for what use to be a $20 cut and they don't even add any extras to it just greed. "Well you're paying for experience" how when you just came out of barber school? I've known OG barbers who charged $20 for years and ended up good because they stacked and saved not overcharged their clients. I'm sure it's worse for the women because ya gotta deal with getting their hair, doing pre prep, and having your hair a certain way before a stylist will touch it if at all. Now some of ya be BSing though like be on time, don't have your hair looking any kind of way that'll take time away from the stylist. At this point getting a cut for me is a luxury but I love spending $15 every other month just to get my beard shaped.

I'm not here to justify bad business practises. But what I see amongst ourselves as black people is that nothing is ever good enough for us and we're always ready to complain.
@nayatarot777
10 ай бұрын
but what we're complaining about is professional people not fulfilling basic business and service standards. people aren't complaining just to complain. this is giving same energy as when we're expected to just settle for less and settle for scraps. that's an expectation of us and these business owners know that so they expect us to settle for it. most things aren't good enough for us - that's why it seems like we're always "complaining". we're holding people accountable and demanding basic standards to be met. this reminds me of when people say that people expect too much and are never happy within relationships that they're not getting what they should be getting in. basic things. this idea that we should lower the amount of complaining is basically saying that we should settle for less than basic standards. no. sounds like old fashioned "massa conditioning" - as i like to call it - to me 😂
