You can literally see his man shaking from the music orgasm at the end of Basketball Shoes. Also while I’m at it about the song, the verse “so if you see me looking strange with a fresh style I’m still not feeling that great” is followed up by a more upbeat Midwest emo section out of completely nowhere, then the final sections of the track are a full on mask off emotional breakdown, quite the meta commentary for one track. The Midwest emo section also includes lyrics talking about his sweater, maybe he’s got some new cottagecore/dark academia look with the big sweaters or whatever fits. it took me a lot of listens and readings to really catch this but now it’s hard to miss

The final lines of the album “your generous loan to me, your crippling interest” is referring to the fans of the band. The fame and pressure drove the frontman Isaac to a deep depression, causing him to leave the band right before the release of this album. The “generous loan” is the fans giving them love and support and fame, but came at a cost. “Crippling interest”, like interest on a loan, but also the interest the fans/media took to the band, which ended up being so crippling to him he couldn’t take it anymore

The lead singer, Isaac Wood, departed the band days before this album released for his mental health and well-being. But bc,nr has continued making music with several band member sharing lead vocals duties. I hope you react to their 3rd album Live from Bush Hall. It’s amazing and arguably rivals this album evening without Isaac.
