[Verse 1] There's a time and a place and a place that it's not Take that smile off your face when you're dressed like a cow When you're frolicking round, legs in the air Smile on your face but it's covered in hair Do you want it? Do you want it? [Verse 2] You run through the streets like the whore that you are And you hoped pretty soon you'd be struck by the car But the light of the day tries to keep you afloat While there's pain in your stomach and pain in your throat Do you want it? Do you want it? [Refrain] Mother would you take me, and on, and on For I have nothing, no more baby, she's gone, and on (3, 4) [Bridge] I tried to take the word on what you said I tried to take the word but the word was dead I did not want it And in the light of day it all seemed well Or was it just a dream, she could not tell With how she wanted it? [Verse 3] There's a time and a place and a place that it's not Take that smile off your face when you're dressed like a cow When you're frolicking round with your legs in the air Smile on your face but it's covered in hair Do you want it? Oh Do you want it? Oh [Verse 4] Just imagine a life with a baby and wife What the times would look like when compared to the night But the money's not there so you sit in despair Curse at the sky when the quiet's not there Do you want it? Oh now Do you want it? Oh [Bridge] For after all, the autumn eve lead to a fate no-one believed Taken to the table where she wrote, she held herself a vote A vote between the good and bad, with all she'd seen and all she'd had Nancy tried to take the night, but now she's gone removed from sight [Refrain] And now oh, mother would you take me, and on, and on For I have nothing but my baby, she's gone, and on [Outro] If I could take it back now Would I take it back now? If he could take it (yeah) back (mm) now Would he take it all back now? Nancy took the night and she's gone, and on

Can't help but feel conflicted, under Isaac, BCNR were a truly revolutionary punk band. The new music is beautiful, but it doesn't excite me the same way that Isaac was tearing a new space in post punk. BCNR now sound like a decent indie folk band, but I can't help but feel indie music in Britain has truly lost something, and I don't think the new music is quite living up to its place

It's a tragedy what losing Isaac did to this band. There's just a layer of real sincerity and otherness that feels absent now. There was a scorn about him that felt so refreshing and exciting and to be honest, now I'm just hearing Laura Marling read an entry from Bridget Jones' diary. The music itself still retains something interesting, but the tone and the messaging has become much more ten a penny. I wish them the best regardless. BNCR truly felt like a watershed in British music with those first two records and those songs will never go anywhere!

Both iterations of BCNR are great, but they're very different. Isaac was one of a kind. But I'd rather have just 2 albums with him that are great, rather than have him continue despite being burned out. As for new BCNR, I'd say their new stuff is very good. Especially when you consider that they've only been doing their new approach for a year. I think we can expect great things.
@comedon
Жыл бұрын
I can hardly write I didn't share those statements. What Isaac brought to this group would never be replaced. And those two first records will never be matched. Nevertheless, Isaac wouldn't achieve this task alone. Even if his contribution is massive and gives these opus their final and unique taste, it was a collective work. And the beauty of it was in great part also due to this feeling of collective work. The amazing beauty of their live performances was the product of the whole band, of each part of it. The fact that Isaac was not standing in the middle of the band on stage was not a detail. It was a statement. And it was absolutely beautiful. I got the luck to be at one this latest show, and the joy that this experience brings me was equally due to each one them. They were, the whole group, together, amazing. BNCR remains a collection of talents that had to find its own musical identity. Even without Isaac, BCNR remains above the common. Keep in mind this young group V.2 is under construction. To my opinion, this song is good proposition. And I really wish them the best.

I saw them at Best Kept Secret and i almost wept at the end, it was insane how quiet everyone was... This being inside an overcrowded sweaty tent. The music was like a journey, truly, and when they laid down the last song the audience even hesitated to clap at first because they couldn't comprehend what had happened. And then the thundering applause came, like a true catharsis, like a wave of gratitude and love Funny how i had prepared for them by listening only to Concorde while they didn't play any songs from the album.
