Best teaching format for Steely Dan chord progressions I’ve ever seen. So succinct. The tandem white board tab is so much better than trying to see finger placement for more unusual “mu” chords. Thanks so much for this!

well done, one note: the A13 chord you have shown is one note off. You are playing it correctly (A7#5) from low E to high E (frets 5X566X) but the notation is showing 5X567X

A(b13) theoretically contains a perfect 5th (E). But on the guitar, you can't always play all the notes like on a piano. Furthermore, jazz chords are usually played without a 5th because it's not a very interesting note and it's often played by the bass. So on the guitar, this shape is used for both A7#5 and A(b13). And if no other instrument plays a perfect 5th, both names are right.

I've been learning a lot of Steely Dan songs lately, mostly by watching a guitarist and then creating my own tabs. Your on screen tab notations have been so helpful. I've able to take screen snaps and then create a doc with the chord changes. Thanks for adding them - much easier than freeze framing and trying to figure out what chord is being played.

Thank you. I really appreciate your showing the chords - and I'm a trumpet player, not a guitarist. Aside from a tenor solo, I haven't heard many horn players blow on this; not sure why; the changes are really interesting. One thing though: that first chord is not a Bbmaj7; it's a dominant 9 #11.
