They love each other enough to hold each other accountable. I for one can see the struggle they both have, Chris was never a perfect son, and he's had drug problems in the past. Sometimes working in that kind of environment can really weight on the soul. In a way, fueling each other's fire and hopefully by splitting up the band they will both be able to live healthier lives, and perhaps in the future they will get it back together and do a few tours. I have seen Chris doing great, he did As the Crow Flies with Marcus King, and that is such a stellar group. God Bless Scott Russell!1

I don’t get excited about anyone very often, and when I do it’s almost always a group or a single musician or singer from a half century or more ago, but the Black Crows came along really in the late 80’s and they are in my opinion the best Rock band to come along in maybe 50 years or more. Beautiful harmonies and guitar, Soulful, never loosing touch with there northwest Atlanta roots, paying homage to everyone before them in music that really matters from Leadbelly and Atlanta blues legend blind Willie McTell, to Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash just to name a few. Both Chris and Rich are amazing musicians.

My angels, my devils, my thorn in my pride My angels, my devils, my thorn in my pride Are you wanting inspiration? You spill your secrets on me Then you tell me with a whisper Of things that will never be. Do you hear me breathing? Does it make you want to scream? Did you ever like a bad dream? Sometimes life is obscene. My angels, my devils, my thorn in my pride My angels, my devils, my thorn in my pride My angels, my devils, my thorn in my pride Lover, cover me with your sleep Let your love light shine, let it shine Lover, cover me with a good dream Oh, let your love light Oh, let your love light shine Oh, I wanna know, do you ever wanna let it shine? Great live version of a great song from a great band. I was blown away by this song when it was first released and immediately fell in love with it...and I still love it to this day. In fact, I am willing to stake a claim that the whole Southern Harmony and Musical Companion album is one of the best southern rock albums of all times; at least in the top 5. Thanks for sharing this, eerko.

I'm from the deep south all 55 years and I've never thought of the BC's as Southern rock. I hate that term. I don't consider Skynyrd, the ABB, Outlaws, Hatchet, Wet Willy, Elvin Bishop, Black Oak Arkansas, etc.. southern rock.

Gregg Allman didn't want to be known as Southern Rock either... just Blues.
