I'm using speed 40 fro BD and detachable hood of BD is surely convenient since full 40L pack is getting bit saggy for one day climbing trip. Those hood is good to make pack more compact

@ryantilley9063 have you updated to new pack? Also have you tried the new mission 35,45, or 55 they say they redid shoulder straps to be more comfortable?

I actually still have that same pack! Granted it wasn't my main working pack for a few years since making this video, I did switch to a different one for about two years. Recently though I started using my mission 45 again as my main pack for this last year. I'm planning on buying a few Mountain Hardware packs this next summer and wanted to destroy a few of my older packs so I could throw them away to make space. The only issue is that old mission pack is still going! I can't find an excuse to throw it away it still works great, I also am using the 55 quite a bit for larger loads. Both of those are the old version that you see in this video, I did just get a Mission 75 this summer though that's the complete updated version. I got it for winter mountaineering work down here in the Sierra so I'll have a pretty good idea of how the new updates work by this summer.

What is the purpose of the black handles/hooks at the bottom of the pack?

I ordered the 35l and think that it’s super heavy…a load of features though.

Have you stripped it down? I am wondering how much weight the lid is and waist belt and frame?

I'm considering the 35 for ice cragging. Will the crampon pocket hold Blade Runners (which don't slide along the center bar and compact down like BD models do)? Thanks.

i was interested in this lne of packs until i just saw how much they weigh...no thanks. speed is safety in the mountains, and 3.8 pounds for a 45 liter pack is ridiculous in this day and age.
