Looks lovely, but it’s not a Black Forest cake, not in the traditional sense anyways. It is also missing a key ingredient, called Kirschwasser or just kirsch, a local cherry schnapps.

This is a really pretty cake, I'm just not sure why you would call it a black forest cake? As someone who grew up in that region, it really doesn't resemble much of the original version. It somehow creates a false image of what a black forest cake is.

Thanks but as you can read both in the title and in the description of the video, I have never referred to the fact that it is the traditional version, but rather a reinterpretation of this type of cake. You can easily reinterpret it in the kitchen without being mentally closed to always wanting to always see the same recipe for everyone, luckily there is more open-mindedness among the professionals..

sorry to say this. black forest cake is a protected name and recipe meaning you can not just make your own version and call it black forest cake... what you did might be a good cake... but you can not call it a black forest cake because it does not follow the recipe. you can say that the recipe was inspired by the black forest cake or thatyou made a "black forest style" cqke but you are not allowed to call it black forest cake... It is like misusing a brand name... actually it is misusing a brand name....

While I agree with my fellow Germans that this isn't a Black Forest Cake, it's an incredibly lovely inspired Black Forest-Like cake! It looks so stunning and modern and frankly delicious. Have you tried it with kirsch to soak the sponge? Or do you not use any alcohol at all in your cakes? I need to try this one, and see what it tastes like. Ugh, it looks so gorgeous.

I have not used liqueur in this case, but nothing prevents it, if you prefer to give it an extra touch it will certainly be excellent and even more similar to the original ☺🙏💗

Anyone who knows anything about baking and cakes knows this is NOT A BLACK FOREST CAKE. Its a chocolate-cherry inspired cake at best. Not saying its not delicious but labeling it as Black Forest Cake suggests either a. you don't know, which would be highly surprising or, b. you're click baiting.

Not much black forest in it either. The typical ingredients of a black forest cake are chocolate cake, cherries, cherry liquor and whipped cream (most of the time, I've heard some use butter cream, but have not come across one so far). This chocolate cherry cake is great. However, it does not deserve the name "Black Forest cherry" The main flavour ingredient, namely the cherry brandy, is missing.

Maybe it is a delicious cake, but it is definitely NOT a Shwartzwald (black forest in german) torte, no way. Half of the ingredients are not from the swartzwald recipe, and the rest is flour sugar and cocoa we can use in any chocolate cake. Today every sh..t with cocoa in the biscuit and any berry on the top call "black forest cake".

I am from the Blackforrest and THAT has nothing to do with Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. It's a random Cherry Cake, but with all the Gelantine it tastes like a Gummybear. Looks nice, but it's insult to everyone who loves the tradition of the Blackforrest. And NO, it's not a modern interpretation. The only nice interpretation is the cherries on the top.

If I wanted to be mean, I'd say it's a bit light on the cake part. I'd need a bit more biscuit. But it's absolutely gorgeous. I don't think I am a big fan of the chocolate ring as it kinda falls apart after cutting. I also didn't see any cherry spirit being used which I though was mandatory.

Hi, it takes at least 4/5 hours to completely defrost the whole cake (remember that to defrost food better it should be stored in the refrigerator, never at room temperature) 😊

As an Austrian, this is the only kind of Schwarzwälder I will accept from now on. Most recipes use too much cream - it drowns out the taste of the cherries. This one, however, looks perfectly balanced.

Clearly this is not the traditional cake, but many find it difficult to understand unfortunately .. in the world of pastry there are really many versions of a dessert (as well as tiramisu to give a trivial example) then the name of the Dessert is used to give an idea of what the final taste will be, even though it is an interpretation 😊

Hi Obert, I didn't know that vanilla was hard to find in Germany, I live in Italy and it is commonly found in the supermarket. Instead of the Vanilla Beans you could use a Vanilla extract or an Aroma, I don't know what is available in the area where you live 😊

Don't pour cold liquids onto hot ones that have gelatin or you'll get clots from the mix if the temperature difference is too high. Aside from that gorgeous cake and great idea the crunchy layer.

Non credo che una persona mangi una torta intera da sola. 10g di zucchero non sono sufficienti per questa torta. Lo Zucchero di Canna NON é più dietetico. A livello nutrizionale é identico allo Zucchero Bianco, la differenza sta principalmente nel gusto, dal momento che lo Zucchero di Canna contiene più tracce di Melassa che lo rende semplicemente più aromatico.

This is amazing. My only critique would be to make the chocolate wrapped around the outside more precise. You can see that it's pretty loose. Probably start with it already on the inside of the spring form pan and put the layers inside of that. But this is an amazing video.

I feel like the Germans who are going berserk about "this isn't black forest" are as bad as the Italians going berserk over so called signature Italian dishes, such as bolognese, its ridiculous. Every Italian knows full well that every Italian signature dish varies from town to town, even house to house. Everybodies grandmother makes it better than anyone else etc. Variations on a theme is the entire concept of cooking. Your cake looks amazingly delicious, creative and WELL done. All of that said, I have had a "black forest" cake similar to this in a Michelin starred restaurant, IN MUNICH and when a German waiter says "we have a delightful black forest cake" and brings me something similar to whats here in this video, im good,... not about to start arguing. WELL DONE Denise!!

Diese Torte ist KEINE Schwarzwälder-Kirsch-Torte. Das ist eine Schokoladen-Kirsch-Torte. Es sind die falschen Kirschen, das Kirschwasser fehlt, Mürbeteigboden, Biskuitboden, Creme stimmen nicht. Mich gruselt es hier, wie einen Neapolitaner beim Anblick einer Pizza Hawaii. Mag ja lecker schmecken, aber das Original geht anders.

This cake looks incredible, and your video is a joy to watch. I really want to try making it! Do you recommend serving it straight from the fridge or is it best eaten at room temperature? Thank you.

Thank you 😊💗 I'm very happy that you like it, I hope you'll try to make it again, I'm sure you'll like it a lot. I recommend letting it thaw in the fridge and consuming it a day later so that all the flavors can blend together better, so I would start making it a few days before it will be consumed (given the many rest periods) and then yes, it should be served fresh from the fridge.
