They’re popular worldwide because they have a message and goal in what they do. Their message is to love yourself, and to not let people or your mind to get you down. In 2017, they collaborated with UNICEF to start a campaign called the ‘LOVE MYSELF’ campaign. Their goal for this campaign is to #ENDviolence and for young people to live a life without a fear of violence. I think BTS is one of the most popular artists right now because young people all over the world can relate to the struggle of growing up, such as depression or anxiety. All of the BTS members has had at least some type of struggle that young people can relate to. BTS creates music that helps young people to love themselves for who they are. Edit: I mean adults and people of all ages too!

I am a 63 years old woman, watched them of a Korean Award show, they did their song Fire, and I have been hooked ever since. I don’t look at them as a young woman would, like sexually, not that I don’t say, “ Help me, they are so handsome, etc. Their music reaches down into your soul and pulls you in. I love their dancing, and you should watch some of their live shows. I suggested, on your previous reaction, to watch their Cypher Medley Live 2017. But, as another ARMY suggested, that is what BTS’s fans are called, watch the from Nobodies to Legends. Also, please don’t let the haters get you down. Some ARMY can get very defensive about BTS. Three members are rappers and four members are vocal line. You will not be disappointed as you get to know BTS more. I have been a fan for almost two years and I still haven’t seen everything about them. They have a Run series where they compete in games, Bon voyage where they go to different Countries. They let us into their lives, they are hilarious and so humble. ARMY will guide you, looking forward to more of your reactions of BTS.

I know that BTS is stereotypically know as a group a boys with screaming girls. But that not them at all. They came from a bottom LITERALLY. They slept in on small room before and after debut, and came from a small company. At the time BTS connected with the fans on Twitter and showed army around the world their dedication. They worked hard and practiced a lot. They write their own music which comes from their backgrounds or serious issues the world faces. Their message of Loving yourself is an important part of their growth. Teaching Army( Fans who love them and are hard working people, loving, respectful, and of all different backgrounds) BTS is so big because of their connection with ARMY. The lack of connection between a group or artist was given by BTS to Army and Army to BTS!!

Prepare to read a lot 🤧 I’m just gonna give you a list of why I personally think BTS are so popular: - they write their own lyrics, and heavily involved in the production of their music. They also all come up with melodies- it’s kinda like a competition- the best one is chosen and used in the song - People like how their music sounds. BTS, although rooted in hip hop (& they always shout out OG rappers and talk about which hip hop artists inspired them. They know the history behind it), they also branch out and keep experimenting with different genres - Their songs actually have good messages. Sure they have some love songs, but most of their songs are about things like Korean society/culture, the pressures of school, mental health, loneliness, self love, various fears they have, the concept of your persona vs your shadow, the cost of fame and success, and various other themes. People find a lot of their songs to be very comforting. -they communicate with fans SO well to the point where they make you feel like you’re friends with them. It sounds crazy but you can honestly tell how genuine they are when they talk to their fans. Everything they say is translated by fanbases whose accounts are dedicated to accurately translating every piece of BTS content. BTS are pretty active on Twitter, and often do livestreams on an app called Vlive where they can do whatever they want. They talk about everything- from the process of how they make their albums, and sometimes just eat on camera and talk about their day. It’s chill. They also respond directly to fan comments on an app called Weverse. Not to mention their KZitem video content and vlogs - They’ve been through a lot. Not gonna get into too much detail but people have tried to ruin their career (but will fail every time). For example: false plagiarism and chart manipulation accusations against them, hate hashtags (that they saw), death threats, racism, the list goes on. This is a big reason why ARMY is so protective of them. This history we have with them also creates a strong bond. -They’re hilarious, especially when together. BTS have lived together for at least 7+ years. Since they came from a poor company, they even used to sleep in one bedroom. They basically grew up together and consider eachother family. - They’re just genuinely good people. Super polite to staff workers. Generously donate money all the time. Just a nice, sweet, intelligent, hard working bunch of individuals who love music. Wow sorry I wrote a lot- and this isn’t even ALL the reasons why people like them. I could write a whole 10 page thesis paper on them tbh

Hello, I’m a middle-aged black woman who stans BTS. I fought it, denied it, but finally had to accept, they are the truth. 😂 Not really liking any boy bands since New Edition, I wasn’t interested in BTS. But after some “gentle” suggestions from my niece, I broke down and gave them a listen about four months ago. It was their Love Yourself: Tear album. Before the album was even done, I’d already texted my niece and sister saying I finally understood the hype. 😆 I now own almost all their albums, including each of the rappers’ mixtapes, Spotify releases, collaborations, and have pre-ordered the next album. I now want to go to a concert for the first time in my life. Love this group. 😎

there isn’t one reason why bts is so big in my opinion their individuality and hard work is what sets them apart from other musical acts. of course bts is known for their beautiful and touching lyrics and their constant preaching of positivity in their music but they’re also known for their sleek dance moves and incredible team work on stage. i think with bts you never know what you’re getting and they constantly come up with something new and fresh so you’ll never get bored of them. they’re the ones who make their own music so i think their individuality shows a lot in their discography and it’s what makes their music so diverse. there’s something for everyone when it comes to bts whether you like pop or hiphop or edm or rnb or funk or ballads or if you just enjoy watching cool music videos and dance routines. their success story is quite an inspiration on how working hard can get you to the top.

They're popular because they're so REAL. I know people think they're entirely manufactured to be a money machine, but that isn't the case at all. They might be superstars, but they remained humble and human.

For me, main reason why BTS is so popular is because of their STAFF/MANAGEMENT.. The marketing, production, and planning team is the greatest 👍🏻 I’ve followed few kpop group before but I must say BTS is the most consistent group in term of sharing their content to the fans. A lot of their content allow fans to keep up with what they are doing and not forgetting them..I’m not talking about weekly content but as frequent as daily content..it’s like what they are doing is scheduled perfectly even before their debut in 2013.. As an older ARMY, I have learned not to trust too many people or things in life, but I found it easy to believe in BTS. You're damn right, they're not our typical boyband. The group indeed has its own division like the Vocal line, Rap line, Dance line (these are the members that are dancers way before they joined the group and though all of them dances really good) and Visual line. You should definitely check out other of their songs bc BTS is a group that offers different styles and concepts, they spit bars and then the next thing you know they're making you cry with their deep lyrics. Also, I'm so sorry for the fans that overreacted, there really are those kind of bad fruits but I hopt they won't become a hindrance to you reacting more of the boys now that you cleared your previous video (ty for clearing it up btw) for a starter I guess you should listen to some songs first before watching the Who is BTS guide video to better understand the group. Songs I highly recommend: 1. Dope MV - this song is really catchy and basing from the lyrics it kinda tells how they differ from other guys and that they work hard to reach their dreams PLUS as a dancer yourself, I think you'll like the choreo. 2. Fake Love - this song is really good. It basically talks about fake love within yourself and the production value of this MV is really high. NO CGI!! All props used were true. Please check this out 3. Not Today - a lit encouragement song, the lyrics slaps and it motivates/hypes you up plus the CINEMATOGRAPHY in this one is really lit also the CHOREO! 4. Fire - this one is for the youth, the lyrics speaks itself and the choreo slaps hard please check it out

The biggest difference is , they genuinely love and appreciate their fans. ARMY are not just a nameless, faceless customer to them. Everything they do is to show their appreciation and love for the people who walked beside them from the beginning and all those who joined them along the way, to get them to where they are now. They consider ARMY in every aspect of their lives, from the way they behave to the music they produce. They are amazing role models and even with all their success, they remain humble and grounded. They don't claim to be anything other than human, just the same as the rest of us who stumble through life learning from our mistakes and embracing every part of who we are to grow. They will hold a special place in many hearts for years to come for helping so many overcome incredibly hard times in their lives. They are just inspirational

At least to me, the reason why I like them is because they helped me so much, lyric wise when I first got into them, and then after that I was kind of stuck and didn’t want to leave. Several years ago I ended up getting very sick to the point that I had to be in the hospital for over two months in a medically induced coma due to a brain hemorrhage. Once I woke up I was unable to talk, walk, and do normal things anymore which lead to me spending another month in the rehab hospital to learn how to do those things again. After I got out I went into somewhat of a depressed state because of how much I struggled with trying to fit in and go back to normal (which didn’t fully happen) so that then I’d be accepted by my friends and everyone agin. That’s when I found BTS. Their music really helped pull me out of what I was feeling and helped me realize that everything will be okay and although not everyone sees it I have worth even with my differences. Some songs to listen to lyric wise that really helped me: Sea kzitem.info/news/bejne/lKihyZiPn6pmgmU Young forever kzitem.info/news/bejne/tpit0mSscaVhn2k Magic shop kzitem.info/news/bejne/yYKcnK2QiXyqqYI These are just a few that really helped me, although there is honestly a ton. What makes them so popular is their introspectiveness, sincerity and genuine connection with eachother and their fans man. It's really hard to explain to someone who hasn't actually seen what I'm talking about so I suggest you just see it for yourself. I saw some people recommending you watch "From Nobodies to Legends [2019]" by xCeleste and i second that recommendation. It gives you a little taste of how they came up and the general attitude they have so it's a great place to start. (also if you continue reacting to music videos I just wanna give you a heads up. Most of their music videos are always much deeper than they appear because they often make references to art and in the case of the new album thats coming out and the one before it, they even reference psychology theories by Carl Jung. People actually often have to make explanation videos and literally break down their songs and music videos like they were literature books. So yeah, although not every single song/music video is as rich with meaning as another might be, just know that even if it looks shallow there's a big chance it's much deeper)

For me, it's the way they interact with us. Older army's get to see them grow up and newer army's get to see how they grew up. It gives us somewhat of a connection to them. And, some may say "how do u know if they aren't really acting?" Well... U can see it as you look back on their vlogs and videos from 2013... They've been the same people but you can tell they matured. If they put on an act they would most likely have the same personality over and over it would be monotonous and it would be be obvious over a 7 year period. That's why people like them. They feel a connection to them.

So many reasons to love them! Not just catchy tunes, but deep lyrics which connect every album and song together (recommend watching some explanation videos). They use eclectic sounds and many genres which probably accounts for their diverse fan base (race and age mean nothing in this fandom). They touch on social issues and are not superficial. They have struggled to get where they are but have succeeded despite the haters and the PTB in the Korean entertainment industry who want them to fail. They love their fans as much as we love them. Plus they are funny, cute, loud, shy, sexy, sweet, and hella talented!!! There's a ton of online content about BTS and just watching any of it will help you understand why we're fans. Watch "Who is BTS? The Seven Members of Bangtan" while dated it is still a great intro to each member of the group. "BTS from Nobodies to Legends" and "BTS' Contribution to Music." Live performances, dance practices and MMA award shows (2018 and 2019) are fantastic. Run BTS is a show where they play games and perform challenges, BTS Bombs, VLive, American Hustle Life, movies Burn the Stage and Bring the Soul, etc. The next MVs I'd recommend are "Dope," "Not Today," and "Fire," then switch it up to "Blood, Sweat and Tears," "Run," "Fake Love." Be sure to check out their earlier stuff "N.O.," "We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2," and "War of Hormone". Then "Airplane Pt. 2," "Lights," and "Boy with Luv". They also have solo songs: "Do You" by RM, "Agust D" by Agust D/Suga, "Chicken Noodle Soup" by JHope, "Epiphany" by Jin, "Singularity" by V, "Lie" by Jimin, and "Euphoria" by Jungkook. There's also an alternative universe storyline running through most of their music videos but someone else will have to explain that!

The reason why they became so big was because their production company was low budget and they were actually going to cancel it. But instead the CEO decided to allow BTS to write their own lyrics (songs) and come up with their own ideas. So they began making their own songs and coming up with their ideas and concept. They eventually began making songs that are about life, depression, teenage life, bullying, self love and eventually became big. Also they’ve worked hard and became bigger with their shows because they practice and actually bring all those moves to the table. In conclusion, they’ve worked hard to be where they’re at now and actually has a message behind all their songs. I was not a fan of them until I saw their diligence and hard work. Worth watching and listening to for sure. And btw RM the leader is known to have the highest IQ in the entire Korea making him one of the smartest. And he learned English just by watching the show “friends”. Hope you get to read this and learn about them.

To answer your question why they’re popular: I think it depends on multiple reasons. We (the fans) obviously like BTS’ music. They have a very diverse discography. So it doesn’t matter if you like r&b or hip hop etc because they have both. They are obviously extremely talented but they are also hard working and humble and BTS help writing their own music. We’re able to relate to BTS because they help writing their own song. They also have amazing personality and the members are like a big family + they care about their fans a lot. Example: one time a BTS member ran in to the crowd to get to an disabled fan I would recommend you to listen to: Outro: Tear by BTS. It’s basically a song with only BTS’ rap line

I first looked into them b/c my daughter liked them so much that I wanted to share in something with her and find out why they stood out from the rest of K-pop. I wanted to understand what was the reason for their extreme success. Then I fell down the rabbit hole and I can't get out. They are simply just that good. I enjoy other groups in the general K-pop genre because I feel like we don't have that in America anymore; but BTS is actually its own genre at this point. I just wish the rest of the world would catch up already and give them their due respect. You said you respect people actually saying something in their lyrics - li'l bro, you have no idea what kind of rabbit hole you just fell into if that is actually something you really appreciate. This group rarely (literally 99.9% of the time) does not sing or rap about women, drugs, or superficial things. They are about self-love, philosophy, existentialism, respect, acceptance, mental illness, perseverance, the struggle of life in general, and that hope springs eternal. Welcome.

When they first came out everyone douted them and their company got bankedruped but they stayed together and worked very hard to prove people wrong. Basically they came from nothing and now their company is one of the biggest kpop company's in South Korea. Honestly, the last thing that I can really think as to why they're so popular is because of timing. Not only are they artistic and talat there also happened to be with an agency that allows them to show this artist and talent side without being generic and cringy. Plus. You have the internet age that was able to push their message and there are abound, and we're at a time where people are desperate for such uplifting motivational and real messages. Too much of music is well, you know what? I mean. We wanted something different. We wanted something real and right now we're hungry for it and seems like no one else other than really BTS in a few others is serving up the dish.

I don't feel like there is one answer as to why they are so popular and have so many fans, but here's my (very long) opinion. If you want a more logical reason, Kpop music production, even as manufactured as it can sometimes be, is just leaps and bonds above western artist. EVERYONE is good. They train in singing, dancing, rapping, acting etc. before they can even think about debuting, sometimes for years. There is so much hard work that goes into everything they do that it can even be detrimental to their health, but the product is always amazing. For BTS in particular, they did all that hard work even while no one believed in them just because they came from a small company. They were cut out of TV broadcast and were made fun of or ignored in interviews; it was pretty unprofessional and sad. But they were determined and from what I've seen, in the early days, relied a lot on the fans that they had gained to get their name out there. They're social media presence was heavy. They did live streams and vlogs and tweeted and always, always remembered to thank their fans for every little thing and it was that weirdly intimate connection that you don't usually get with celebrities that I think drew a lot of the early fans to them. The music helped of course, but you can like someone's music but not like them as a person, you know? But BTS was very open and sincere about how hard they were trying and how much they wanted to please the fans and it formed a really personal connection. In contrast, for people who are more recent fans I think the love of the music came first. You hear a piece of a song or see part of a video and go "What was that? That was cool," and then you watch or hear something amazing because their voices and dancing are attention grabbing. And then you see all their old content and realize they've been around since 2013 and you start trying to catch up, driving their views up higher. It's been years and there are still things that are new to me. For me it was their music video DOPE that got me. I had seen them around before but I was a heavy girl group stan in the early 2010s so they weren't really on my radar. But I watched the music video, which was great, and read the lyrics, which were even better, and then it was like a flood gate opened. They were energetic and exciting and multi-talented and, let's be honest, handsome. When I found out they write and produce a lot of their own music (which was and is still very rare in Kpop) that was just icing on the cake. You might find that you don't really like their music and are not a fan and that is beyond okay. People have different taste. I don't instantly love every song of theirs I've heard, sometimes they have to grow on me, sometimes they never do. What real ARMY have a problem with is when they are dismissed or disrespected like those early days. I watched your first video and I neither liked nor disliked it because while I understood your disbelief at their popularity (Korean artist are still "breaking in" to the western industry so it's not surprising that you haven't really heard of them), you did, to me at least, sound like you had preconceived notions and dislikes. Yeah, we listen to them in Korean and read the lyrics after because music is universal. Yeah, the crowd was loud because that's how you act when an artist you like comes on stage with what is basically a world premiere; people were excited. Now, if you do become a fan it's very easy to fall into The Hole because it's clear to see, if you read their lyrics, that they don't care about age or race or gender; they're messages are very consistent: Be who you are, follow your dreams, it's okay to fail and feel sad as long as you try, and just love yourself. Which sounds cheesy, and it is, but it's also what a lot of people need to hear (and there are some party songs in there too). This is long. Good luck if you continue watching their videos, and good luck if you don't. I hate using this word, but there are "toxic" people in every fan base, but I swear most of us are nice and are just happy when people are being open minded about the guys, so thanks for giving them a second look and ignore the hate comments.

This song is the beginning of me sinking (no, jumping) into the rabbit hole. I dont wanna get out!
Before I watch this video, I just want to say, thank you for reacting to BTS again despite the comments and like/dislike ratio on your first video. A lot of people get turned off because of the fandom, as a lot of fans tend to be aggressively defense. It's understandable when you know BTS' history, but sometimes we all just need to take a deep breath and not jump down the throats of people who don't love our boys after one song. Please keep going with totally honest reactions and I just ask that you don't pretend to love them for views. I look forward to more videos. 💜

One, two, three or four songs aren't going to make you understand why they are so widely known and loved by many. You need to understand their story and the message they try to tell. You need to get what inspires them and how they use that to influence others in a positive way. BTS are more than artists. They blend music with art and the journey of life. They let their passion speak for themselves. BTS are very talented and constantly discover ways to connect with their audience. Maybe that's one of the things that make them different from the rest. You'll only discover all of this by listening to their music, watching their music videos and paying attention to the projects that they're involved in. Maybe you should watch a video called "This is BTS: crash course to a worldwide sensation 2020". Gives a tiny insight of who they are, what they've been through and their music so far

I love your reactions to the BTS videos you watch. And that fact that you don't really know them that well, makes your reactions a bit more genuine and real. It's kind of hard to explain why they're popular, but I'd say it's because of their message of learning how to love and accept yourself. That and the fact that their songs are super relatable to people these days. But if you really want to learn more about BTS, I suggest watching: Who is BTS? The Seven Members of Bangtan and/or This is BTS: Crash Course to a Worldwide Sensation (2020) by SUGA & spice.

I think you need to strap yourself as you dive into the Bangtan Universe! Haha... It's a lot deeper than you think and I think that's one of the reasons why everyone loves BTS. On the surface they're a bunch of cool kids doing music and dance routine, however when you look into their lyrics you'll find comfort and healing and even closure to a time in life you may have experienced hardship. Their albums displays one's lifetime and every album has a clear definite message for the audience. I found closure from scars that carried from my teenage years into my adolescent years that I didn't even know existed... Eg. Silver spoon talks about social inequality, Bapsae (crowtit) is a millennial vs boomer clapback, Spring Day is about missing someone however the MV clearly addresses the tragedy of the Sewol Ferry disaster where 300 students drowned. Their music and inspirations helps us to understand who we are as individuals and our place in this world. The Map of the Soul series was inspired by Jungarian theories that looks into our consciousness (persona) and unconsciousness (shadow and ego) and stirs up discussion amongst fans when trying to decipher their MVs. It's never all serious though, there are some fun songs like Ddeang (full of witty Korean idioms for the haters) and Go Go (YOLO song), then there are the rappers mixtapes, but you go find whatever suits you! Looking forward to your next reaction! 😆

I'm watching your bts reaction videos and I'm so sorry you got to experience the bad face of the fandom on your first video... like a lot of people said in the comment section, this is a HUGE fandom and some people are just mad angry at anything and everything. I understood where you came from when you talked about the language barrier in the first vid, and about the crowd and how you wondered why people like them so much, I knew you weren't saying it in a bad way but for some people it's just black or white and will take everything out of context. I'm so glad the comment section in this vid is much nicer than the one on your black swan reaction vid. We really do appreciate everyone that genuinelly wants to get to know bts and their music. So this song was inspired by one president Obama's speeches. There are so many reasons why they are popular: their lyrics have deeper meanings which they take from books and movies. For example their latest albums are inspired by Carl Jung's Map of the soul. One of their previous albums, Wings, was inspired by Hermann Hesse's Demian. They also talk about mental health, the pressures we all face in life, and most importantly, about loving yourself. They also have this whole storyline in their music videos, so you do need to watch them in a specific order to understand it. Within their performances, and they have small videos in their tours, that hint to the storyline, so us detective armies dissect it to figure it out. There's a lot of theory videos on KZitem if you want to check those out. My faves are XCeleste and BookishTheories. Then there's their underdog story: BTS came from a small company in Korea. Because of this, no one thought that they would make it since Kpop is ruled by 3 big record companies (known as the big 3). They were cut from broadcasts and had their performances shortened because of this. They were also accused of plagiarism and chart manipulation. They were so broke that they had to use their staff as actors as well as their cars for their music videos, and all 7 of them shared 1 room for awhile. Through all that they persevered to where they are now. (XCeleste has a good video explaining this called from nobodies to legends) and though they've made it big time they're still so grounded, humble, and personable. They practice 12-16 hours a day which is why their performances are on point. There are so many more reasons but this is becoming a novel so yeah. (sorry about that btw) You should definitely react to the cypher series by the rap line. The group has 3 rappers, 2 of which were in the underground rap scene till they joined BTS, which they got a lot of flack for by their peers calling them sellouts. The cypher series is to their haters and it's just 3 of them spittin bars. My favorites are cypher pt. 2 and cypher pt. 4. And if you get through all that you should definitely watch the cypher medley live performance because their live performances are another level. Lastly, thank you for being so open and curious about them. I do have to admit when I saw your tagline on the Black Swan reaction video I was a little skeptical, and held off watching it because I didn't want the troll in me to come out. But I do see that you're genuinely curious so I"ll try to help as much as I can, I'm a baby army compared to others, but I'll share what knowledge I have. Army's a little protective of them because of all they've been through...

What's cool is that two of the rappers were underground rappers before they ever trained to be idols. They were producing and rapping since they were in middle school. If you like hip hop and rapping they got it. All the rappers have mixtapes, they're all different and have different styles. They call Suga the Korean Eminem for good reason. RM-Joke (probably going to miss a lot of underlying lyrics because he tends to use a lot of Korean metaphors that don't translate across very well but it really shows how talented he is). Agust D- Agust D (Agust D is Sugas alter ego, and he's spelling out his name in the mv not saying std lol) Jhope- Daydream

oh these boys are into their lyrics/bars. They actually pride themselves on their lyrics, and usually have underlying stories that lace through their albums and videos. As far as how they get a very dedicated fanbase, you can look at it as rooting for the underdog as these boys started by the bottom (so to speak). There are videos out there that summarize their rise, the most popular one is from Nobodies to Legends. You should check it out
