Alternative perspective, and not trying to justify the phrase or anyone's bad actions at all, but just because black people collectively don't have as much power in society doesn't mean they didn't have power in that situation. They had a numbers advantage and put their hate on someone who did nothing to them. So even by their own definition it was racism.
@CTomCooper

It can be described as a secular doctrine within academia and political circles: “Speaking up for minorities”-with minorities being non-whites to sow division and discord across a wider population-is just a blanket statement that is also meant to hide how non-white demographics have the same clashes towards one another. The destruction of social cohesion by a handful of people in circles of influence and power is deliberate and not accidental, and it’s why academic faculty and administrators in business and government continue to push their rhetoric to preserve their positions of power. Racism as it’s redefined here in this cartoon is okay when they do it. It’s not a coincidence to see younger generations fall into that brainwashing, because it’s to train up younger people into preserving the dynamic that members of this ideological cult have established for themselves. Those kids who were bullies were being pat on the head by their elders for doing a “good job”. It’s something that is mentally very sick.

What confuses me is there was a perfectly good term to describe that difference. Racism has always been a broad overarching term for discrimination based off of one's race. Obviously that can manifest in different ways, hence why people started to use the term systemic racism. Racism by a dominant group in society towards a marginalized group is different than the inverse, but the inverse doesn't suddenly not become racism. You could use that logic to dismiss any kind of form of discrimination in that case, i.e. young people can't be ageist against someone older than them, women can't be sexist towards men, etc. It's just silly.

Black here and I’ve faced this exact kind of mindset. I don’t know how it got misconstrued that one can be exempt from racism but the truth is many black people have a problem addressing issues inside the community. I was born in the us and my moms Haitian so if someone asked what I was I’d clarify that. That amount of children that responded with “I don’t like Haitians” was crazy. Even more ridiculous was when I asked for their reasons it was always some flimsy “idk I just don’t”. One girl flat out said she had an issue with me now and I called her racist. The went to her saying “I’m not racist I just don’t like Haitians”. If a white person said that there would be hell to pay but no cause your black you get some gross exemption. It annoys me when media likes to only portray black people as unambiguously United to some issue and painting the picture that only something on the outside harms us. Sad truth is a lot of stuff that brings us down is glossed over cause it mean addressing internal problems that aren’t caused be outside factors. There were adults talking about a “racist” killing a black guy on his home when the truth was the guy broke in and appropriately got bodied for it. Penny and her friends will decry Zoe for getting the affections of a light skin guy that doesn’t like darker girls. Nobody talks about that guys hookup and Zoe is the problem like wtf? The show has a very skewered perspective that hasn’t don’t well at addressing some of the big things they try to especially when it comes to race.

I don’t believe the writers intended her to be named “the swamp”. Actually LaCienega and her mom Sunset Boulevardez were named after real life locations in Los Angeles, Sunset Boulevard and LaCienega Boulevard respectively. However I do believe racism can come from any place, it’s not exclusive to one race being prejudice to another. As a black person, others can be capable of racism too. Even towards their own race.

My family on my moms side is black. My mom went to get her nails done at a salon mostly runned by Asian women. And there was this obnoxious black lady eating Chinese takeout while getting her feet done. She made this racist comment about “praying over their food”. The lady actually looked up at her then at my mom and my mom just shook her head. My mom knows the people working there really well. This was around the time the pandemic was happening and xenophobia against Asian people was on the rise. (Context: people were blaming the pandemic on the fact that Chinese people eat bats, dogs, etc. i believe it was already dismissed that the pandemic was caused by contaminated bat soup. )

Boondocks is a social commentary on black american culture. This is a racist bastardization of a show that once taught about acceptance and understand while showing a healthy black upper middle class family. Though you can't have that now a days as it goes against the narrative.
