Love the tshirt Look... me and the McDonald's people got this little misunderstanding. See, they're McDonald's... I'm McDowell's. They got the Golden Arches, mine is the Golden Arcs. They got the Big Mac, I got the Big Mick. We both got two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, but their buns have sesame seeds. My buns have no seeds.

A reminder to all viewers to check before cooking with activated charcoal! It has reactions with many medicines and is not recommended if you are at risk of internal bleeding! If you are transitioning and use HRT it will nullify the effects, and for my fellow gastero problemed people it is not recommended for ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease cause it can cause inflammation. I was just googling and apparently it even messes up asprin of all things. So please double check before using the activated charcoal!

Activated charcoal is commonly used to treat poisoning or drug overdose. It works by adsorption which is a process where it binds to various substances and prevents them from being absorbed in your stomach. So yes, it neutralises pretty much all medicines that are taken orally, including contraceptives (!). Anyone taking ANY kind of medication orally should avoid eating food containing activated charcoal at least 2 hours before or after taking the meds.

In my own dive into this genre, I make my own homemade hot sauces, so I've tried to experiment with ingredients that could make a black hot sauce. My recipe has included Chocolate Habanero peppers, fruit (either blackberries or black plums), long pepper, black peppercorns, and black garlic. Ends up appropriately dark in color, and thanks to those Habaneros, VERY hot.

@@mrbarrylewis Black tomatoes are not really black inside - it's only the skin, the flesh is darker than typical tomatoes but still very clearly red/pink, so nowhere near good enough for this.

You can find it in Japan, It's black because it uses squid ink instead of tomato sauce. Not a joke. It's really salty.

1) I have to say the steel whisk on teflon still makes me nervous... I again recommend a silicone-covered one. 2) I recommend black pinetree mushrooms (they're fairly common in my country at least). I think they'd go well on a pizza (their flavor is strong, though, but delicious), and when you soak them, you can use the water (or broth or spirits) to give some colour to a sauce or something like that. It's a dark brown, but it helps and it's flavourful. Love your videos!

Love your stuff Barry! I gotta pop in to say please be careful about keeping cooked/ready-to-eat and uncooked meats separate. Luckily you didn't end up using the pepperoni because it may have picked up something from the raw bacon that may not have had time to cook off in the oven! Oh no I spoke too soon. I just saw the post-credit scene. Hope no-one got a stomach bug D:

Key to go from a good pizza to an amazing pizza is hydration. With a neapolitan dough they are quite wet you don't need to add flour to help with the handling. After it's cold ferment it will no longer be sticky. Look into making a biga too it's a game changer

With the Pepperoni it's because it's already been dry cured, it you added colouring before that stage it will darken, I've had Jerky take on really dark colours where the Beefs been left in a dark marinade for several days and then dried. To make the syrup work better dissolve it into warm water or heat the Guiness, it'll soak into the meat more easiley and get you an even covering, reduced you can also use it as a glaze to brush over everything (think BBQ pizza) so it darkens it more and adds to the flavour.

Next time with the pepperoni try putting the sauce and pepperoni into a bag and try the vacuum sealed method. Then check again in 3 days. I bet you might see better results. Good luck!

Brendaniel and the Rolling Stones would approve. Also the dough is reminding me of Black Jacks, if anyone remembers those sweets. Back in the day, the recipe would turn your tongue tar black, whereas nowadays apparently the recipe turns your tongue a more bluish-black, like the prehensile tongue of a giraffe. As for pizza toppings, I am once again going to rep gherkins. They gel very well with the meat and cheese, meaning they go very well with a big pizza. Also, I'm pretty sure you can make some pretty neat spaghetti with squid ink. Joseph Joestar certainly enjoyed the spaghetti al nero di seppia, even if he first thought that someone spilled their pen in it. As for the nonna, she'd probably stain her parmesan with squid ink too.

I wouldn't use charcoal toothpaste too often. It's really coarse and could wear down your enamel over time. Also I like the black recipes but i don't know if using that much activated charcoal is very good for you.

if you had warmed the treacle first, it would have spread more easily and coated the bacon and pepperoni better. Probably would want to mix it with a bit of golden syrup once warm, and 'marinate' the pepperoni and bacon in a bag like you did with the guinness.
