A lot of the cool stuff metal bands do today was pioneered by Black Sabbath decades ago. Legendary status.

A band needs to be different so why would any band trying to make it copy styles of already popular bands instead of creating their own style and themes just like previous endeavors? This seems to be more a review on generational preferences.

I wonder if Casey would change his tune on Black Sabbath if he listened to their records featuring different singers. I have to agree with him that they're not as good as everyone makes them out to be. HOWEVER, their records with Dio and Tony Martin are some of their best.

I haven't checked out anything with the other singers but I'll check them out.

This is actually good advice. Didn’t even think of it! Casey should check out Heaven & Hell.

Excellent review. It's my favourite Sabbath album. Powerful, heavy, experimental, emotional and it's Sabbath at the peak of their powers

Black Sabbath...almost 50 years ago. Duuuude! I can't believe Casey and I are in disagreement. Even without being a fan, they deserve kudos for what they brought to music. The bits that newer bands took and ran with, had to have a starter. That's worth something. I enjoy watching the back and forth, good episode!

Three blues based bands appeared in the 60's, created their own styles and became huge. As different as can be yet the roots and foundations were the same. Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top. Each found themselves with a theme or image and began pushing those boundaries. They didn't need make up or other theatrics when the music does the talking.

subbed even though my insides hurt from that metal take, haha. But the discussion was cool! xD Listen to "Into The Void" and tell me they didn't invent metal in the early seventies.

guy on the left (don't know his name) is frustrating to listen to because he has no clue wtf is the 70s. ROFL these Scepultura comments are stupid. He clearly has no clue what is the period, but mostly extremely biased.
