Dang. I'm ashamed to say that I have totally underrated this guy as a lead player

He’s a great lead player but his songwriting and riffs are so strong they overshadow the lead work i feel like. He really came into his own as a soloist after ozzy left and started doing a lot of really great stuff, heart like a wheel from seventh star is great as is over and over from mob rules

I know... me too! He's someone who mainly played very modestly...but had chops like this on tap. (and all with a significant hand disability)

I'm an old white headed buzzard, been playing guitar a long time, and I've always thought Iommi kicks major ass. Having said that, I can't help but wonder what was going on at 1:35, why does he get weird? He starts breathing oddly and looking upwards, as if he's getting ready to do something utterly mind blowing or massively big, and then he does that little stint there that most 1st year dedicated guitar students could do. 🤷♂

Hes also missing the tips of one or two fingers he got cut off on the last day of his job before leaving to become a musician. He wears a leather tip and i believe its because of him that there are now different gauged guitar strings
