In this lecture, we'll cover chapters 6-8 of Black Skin, White Masks. Fanon focuses on abandoning a recourse to "the " black soul/identity and instead advocates an identity based on creation and accountability to present injustices and struggles, not bogging down in the past. He explains the collective unconscious and how it is habituated and socially conditioned. Please note, I use the term "negro" in this lecture only when it is present in the text and I feel the passage necessary to read in order to explicate Fanon's ideas and provide constructive and useful information for others who may be experiencing what Fanon speaks of. Please know this language is not chosen lightly and is not meant to carry any offensive connotations or personal hate to any individual or group. Enjoy!
