I love Italian Hot Dogs. You're right on with the precooking the potatoes beforehand because it helps make the potatoes very crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I always bake extra potatoes beforehand when I know I'll want to make Italian Hot Dogs and Cheesesteaks a few days later to achieve the same objective with the potatoes. I make the rolls using fresh pizza dough and I sauté the veggies in a little bit of olive oil and I only fry the hot dogs and potatoes using peanut oil or in an air-fryer with some olive oil. I like the Italian Hot Dogs that I get in North Jersey but I like to make mine much healthier and I also like for the veggies to not be mushy and greasy. I also like to make combos of Cheesesteak and hot dog to make a sandwich that's even more amazing!

I'm from the Jersey Shore. Mama Napoli made the best Italian hotdogs and she cooked them on a flat top with her sons. Big Bertha's food truck is the first place I had a real Italian hotdog. Shed park in front of the grammar school on Thursdays. I saved all my lawn mowing money up for one. Me and my friends just sat in the middle of the ball field eating them. The 60s was great.

Wow! I'm loving this sandwich. Loved that you made a pocket in the bread. Never would've thought of the potatoes, good idea, liked the way they turned out. I know it wouldn't be traditional, but add some spicy mustard, perfect but very okay like this. Nicely Done. Thanks for sharing. 😎.

Hi Tommy, amazing cooks on your Blackstone griddle. I've watched many of your cooks so far. I'm a griddle newbie as well from south jersey (Cape May). Past week picked up a 28" griddle at Dicks sporting goods. Can't wait to try it out, possibly tomorrow if weather works out. Anyway again i appreciate all the work and time you do for the griddle cooks, you got a subscriber. BTW if I may ask, where did you get the blue shirt you wore in video , had the tattered flag on it and flag on shoulder. Was nice shirt and make great gift to my nephew who is the marines. Any info that would help is appreciated. Thanks

A suggestion for future frying on the blackstone, use a disposable round takeout tin and the oil will be contained and it can sit on top of the griddle

Holy hell brother, looks amazing. The cooking space on that thing is amazing. Pretty sure I am gonna buy one this spring. I was gonna add a griddle to my weber kettle, but its nowhere near the cooking space.
