Legacy: Something handed down from one person to another.
Wayne Endicott (Dad) introduced archery hunting blacktail deer, in the high country of Oregon, when I was just a kid. Dad continued to invest in teaching me how and where to hunt.
This film is special, beyond words, to me as it represents a unique bond I share with dad. Dad and I have shared some incredible and unforgettable experiences; each experience marked with appreciation and respect for the unforgiving character of the mountain. Therefore, by the grace of God, we return to this place, to leave comfort and safety, in pursuit of the most beautiful deer ever created - Blacktail.
This is not a hunt just to kill a deer. This hunt is an invitation to participate in the ongoing gift of life. This hunt demands all attention and gives one everything necessary to fully experience humanity. The technical term here is pain. This hunt pushes ones physical limits, to find and outsmart a mature old buck. At any point, this hunt can be taken away.
My mind and body are temporary, my days are numbered, and I know that one day I may not be able to complete such a hunt. However, I have right now to make the most of the opportunity and choose the next best decision in pursuit to become who I was/am created to be.
Thank you, Dustin Ruth.
Your music was such a blessing for such an important (to me) film. You are incredibly gifted.
Cheers,
Nathan Endicott
