"The ancient code of the Knights Radiant says “journey before destination.” Some may call it a simple platitude, but it is far more. A journey will have pain and failure. It is not only the steps forward that we must accept. It is the stumbles. The trials. The knowledge that we will fail. That we will hurt those around us. But if we stop, if we accept the person we are when we fall, the journey ends. That failure becomes our destination. To love the journey is to accept no such end. I have found, through painful experience, that the most important step a person can take is always the next one."

This is everything that Dalinar represents in the books. Solemn, encouraging, warlike, emotional... If "The most important step a man can take is always the next one" had an ost, it would be this song. Really love it, and really love the rest of your work, keep up the good work.

I keep coming back to this to remind myself that Dalinar Kholin to his enemies was not a person. He was a force of fucking nature. Like fighting the Stormwall. No matter what you throw at him, he doesn't die, no matter how many men you send against Oathbringer, it's never enough. But inside the thorns was a heart corrupted by the most base human desire. He was literally just a pawn in a game, until he realised he could be better.

From 2:06 to the end takes me back to this moment: "You cannot have my pain.” “Dalinar-” Dalinar forced himself to his feet. “You. Cannot. Have. My. Pain.” “Be sensible.” “I killed those children,” Dalinar said. “No, it-” “I burned the people of Rathalas.” “I was there, influencing you-” “YOU CANNOT HAVE MY PAIN!” Dalinar bellowed, stepping toward Odium. The god frowned. His Fused companions shied back, and Amaram raised a hand before his eyes and squinted. Were those gloryspren spinning around Dalinar? “I did kill the people of Rathalas,” Dalinar shouted. “You might have been there, but I made the choice. I decided!” He stilled. “I killed her. It hurts so much, but I did it. I accept that. You cannot have her. You cannot take her from me again.”

"Journey before destination. It cannot be a journey if it doesn't have a beginning." For Dalinar, and for all of the Radiants, and the Allomancers, that beginning involved trial by fire and shattering, then being made new with better material. Just as Narsil, the sword that was broken has been re-forged.

I've been binging all your videos and really enjoying them although a lot of them end up having similar sounding swells if that makes sense. For Dalinar, in my mind there were strong drum beats as well as horns to really cement the military aspect, and the strings to bring in Evi and the kids. The motif for Evi would be the upside down version of Dalinar's, and the kids' would have references to both.
