Pwll Du Village built for the coal, iron ore and quarry haulier workers around 1819 to bring the Limestone from the Tyla & Pwll Du Quarries to the Blaenavon Ironworks via The Pwlldu Tunnel, the longest horse drawn dram tunnel in the UK at the time and the only one with a Y junction underground.
