Sure, I understand. I remember learning that in college too as the "scientific" reason why one would benefit in protecting their offspring. It's also the same reason why the woman is subconsciously wired to pick the "fittest" male as a partner. Biology aside, we were also wired to love and be loved- with genetic exhange & multiplication being a beneficial byproduct of that love. It gives life meaning this way and has gotten us through many tough situations throughout the generations, not only as individuals but as family. @@AC-mp7cx you are insinuating that strength should correlate with rights. Men are stronger and bigger than women on average, so it's natural that if there is a physical threat the man would be better equipped to deal with it. It's not about feminism, it's about common sense. If that man loves that woman he will not see a problem using his strength to protect. But note that strength does not equate with intelligence or mental capacity. Just because women are physically weaker it doesn't mean our life choices should be limited or that we should have to obey men. Do you think physkcal strength should dictate the choices and freedoms we have in life?
@maymarine9658
Жыл бұрын
@@layla9256 it is about common sense that if you have more duties, you have more rights. If in every relationships women expect men to put themselves in danger to protected them, it is right for men to ask women to for example to more chores or to accept he has more deciding choice in the relationship. You act a if fighting an aggressor is a cup of tea without danger for a man, like carrying a box. Spoiler : it is not, it is dangerous. It is therefore right for men to ask things from their wife. You cannot have it both way. You cannot expect to be treated like men while expecting men to protect you because you are a woman. Also if a woman love her man, she will throw herself in front of him and would prefer to be the one killed instead of him. Moreover, you say because men are stronger, they should fight to protect women. You are deciding limit men's liberties because of their physical strenght.
@layla9256
Жыл бұрын
@@maymarine9658 Hi May, thanks for the respectful opinion and not attacking me for seeing things differently. I did not say that men should fight to protect women, and I fully understand that it’s no cup of tea. Men have the physical strength that is better able to defend both themselves and others, generally speaking, so many men will do so if there is a threat to those they love. Many women do the same for their loved ones, especially their children. Some men think that because they are willing/able to defend, women should give up freedom of choice. Some people are more extreme in how much freedom of choice women should give up, with some believing women should listen to men by default about most/all life decisions. I don’t understand this point of view at all. I would also not say that men have more duties than women. In any healthy relationship, the participants will decide what roles and responsibilities work for each of them according to their own unique strengths, and in the end this will look different for everyone. When you say that I cannot expect to be treated like a man, what do you mean? What aspects of treatment are unique to men? Being respected? Having a say in decisions? Being in the workforce? Please expand on that, I’m curious.

So true, when we walked around with our stroller in crowded places, my husband said I looked so scary as I was glaring at people and getting in between them and our son. I've told my husband a million times, if something happens, you leave me. You take our son and you keep him safe and you leave me to distract whatever it is until you can get our son to safety. I do this with all of my loved ones. I don’t hesitate, but when I’m with myself, I always get scared and overthink. Even with my boyfriend, if I’m driving and a car gets too close or I hit the brakes too hard, my right arm automatically reaches out to protect him.
