That is interesting.. I have never owned a twin reflex camera yet so never seen that issue.. But if I ever get one I will keep an eye out for this.. Might do the same thing on other brands too.. Thanks for the great info ..

I think medium-format cameras made in the 60s were in a transitional phase where the manufacturers were still figuring out how to gracefully protect us from double exposures and automatically advance the frame counter. I have never used one, but I believe that the folding cameras from the pre-war era would have you turn the knob while looking in the little red window for the frame, and I don't think they had any kind of mechanical interlocks preventing double exposures.

@@TadTadd I think you are correct about those old folding cameras..

Awesome info, I've never owned that camera it sure looks nice. I have an Airesflex TLR, only shot one roll through it with mixed results, it's fun to use though.

I had to search for that one to see...they are neat cameras, yes? People like TLR cameras so it makes it easier to approach them. On Sunday I was taking photos at a canoe rental place on the canal and the college kids running the place were very interested in the Mamiya. It is a definite conversation starter.

The way to fix this issue permanently is to shoot the camera with the multiple exposure lever on and then to advance the frame immediately after each exposure. This will prevent any lost frames as well as accidental double exposures.

That would pretty much guarantee I would have an excellent collection of cool double exposures :-) Of the two outcomes, having a blank frames is the least damaging, so I'll leave it in Single and do my best to catch them. I write down the metadata for all of my shots, so if the shutter release doesn't depress, a comparison of my notebook with the exposure counter ought to let me know which action to take. The hard part was figuring out what was happening--now I know, I can work to prevent it.

@@TadTaddYeah it took me a while to get used to advancing the frame immediately after taking each shot but now I don’t even think about it and no more issues. The multiple exposure lock is extremely sensitive on my C220f, you could just look at the shutter button and it would engage lol, so for me it was either change the routine slightly or get annoyed every 2nd shot and not use the camera

Hmm, interesting. I’ve never had that issue with my C220. Then again I’ve never pressed that shutter release unless I was purposely exposing a frame.

Give it a try without film--wind, cock shutter, then slowly press the release until that super quiet click then let off. At least now you will be familiar with the symptom and cause if it ever happens. My problem is that I squeeze that long-throw shutter release just like the trigger of a firearm: a long slow pull, letting it surprise me. Then, if the scene changes during this slow activity I back off, and trip the secret latch.
