Okay, here's your education on why 2Pac made "Blasphemy." 2Pac is NOT against religion, but he believed churches and religions systems in general were and are corrupt till this day. 1. 2Pac said, "I got crucified through the media and got shit thrown on me." 2. "We don't part the Red Sea, but we walk through the hood without getting shot." 3. "We don't turn water into wine, but we turn dope fiends into productive citizen in society. 4. "We turn words into money, what greater gift can that be. God blesses those that are righteous." 5. "And heaven is when you sleep... you sleep with a good conscience. In hell... all you see is the fucked up things you did over and over again in your life." 6. "It's hell on earth, cause bullets burn, and there's crackheads in the streets walking like zombies." When 2Pac says, "Thug Life" that means "The Hate U Give Lil Infants Fucks Everyone," - If we continue to bring up children in a negative environment, surrounded by racism, violent and oppression then the cycle will just continue. 2Pac is Half Street Element, Half Black Panther Element, and Half Independence Movement.

Tupac is very religious. You made a great point on the Christian life vs thug life. That's the point of the song. It speaks to the obsession of the black population with religion. Black people see religion as an escape from being poor with promises of future riches. Then you have the young black men like tupac who grow up as gangsters and don't fully ascribe to the religion philosophy as he sees what's happening in the streets. In this song he is trying to separate church from god. Can he maintain his faith in this environment? That's the main issue he is spilling his doubts about religion. Hope this helps.

Was raise by a mortal man with no blood relation. Media is know for crucifying black man or publish negatives and push stereotypes. Splitting the blunt, basically saying he’s is thinking at his manifestation higher being when he’s high out natural herbs from the earth. He’s a legend in his own right on how he came up on his own and stayed true to himself and beliefs. Blacks in Jerusalem is about blacks being the original Israelites and God is a woman taking her time but she’s coming. Living by the Nile is just us living in our home of Africa. Contemplating plots is him calculating moves for his revenge on the people that shot him and he’s resurrected after being shot 5 times. Another play on words to show how he’s God son.

As someone with a bit of a "double discipline" this was very interesting to watch. Blasphemy has always been and still is one of my best 2pac songs (if not THE best). Stop trying so hard to figure out the deep hidden meaning in rap. It's about harmony, does it sound good? Does it rhyme in somewhat of a pattern? That's about it in a nutshell, reason why so many corny fucking rappers manage to have more than decent success. If your lyrics are also witty, and carry meaning, even better! For me, Tupac's style was so inspiring because his flow was and still is undeniably one of the best, and the passion he spit with has been matched by very few. I know for a fact that Tupac understood something that Eminem and Elvis also understood, controversy sells. I don't think blasphemy was really about his beliefs. I think he knew a song like that, more than 20 years ago, with all the religious references, was sure to make people react (see what I just did?) whether religious or not. He was capitalizing on his growing momentum, genius move. I've read B.I.G. claim they met at an award show during their beef. B.I.G. asked him wtf was up, 2pac responded: I'm just trying to make some money. Even from a genuine activist, it's a brilliant move, because using this controversy not only makes you very rich, it puts you in the spotlight where you can bring the attention on whatever you like. I feel like he was interrupted before he could finish his work. Being one the best rapper ever was just the side effect of something far greater. Shout out to Eminem, you are the reason why I have to say one of the best and not THE best.

On the last verse Pac says, " Why you got these kidz mindz, thinkin that they evil; while the Preacher 'Gettin Freaky'(alluding to the church and child molestation), you say honor God's people( the irony of that contradiction). The lyrics in the video are off and in this verse that may be the biggest error because of the importance of his message here which is really a big part of the song.

It’s from his album under the pseudonym Makaveli, an album he completely wrote and recorded in seven days. Rumors also have it he signed a 3 album deal with Death Row and this album completed that deal as All Eyez on Me was a double album. So there is reasonable theories Suge Knight either had him killed or was trying to scare him into staying. But that Makaveli album is really pure and uncut Tupac at his greatest and unfortunately it was released a couple months after his murder in Las Vegas.

In interviews, he admitted to believing in god but was very critical of religion. Plus he was shot 2 years before and knew that people wanted to harm him, hence the aggression. He often talked of his own death, and had a sense of urgency to write.

Another comparison that pac is a prophet leading his people to a promised land. "The preacher want me buried why? Cause I know he a liar." Blasphemy, pac spits the biblical truth written on his heart while people empty their pockets to a false prophet the preacher on Sundays. This song is a scathing assault on conventional religion and religious platitudes. 2pac was a very spiritual person, and professed believe in a "higher power" but found it impossible to reconcile the versions of God that were offered in the bible, or religion, with the pain and suffering he saw in the world around him. This song is simultaneously presenting the "gospel" that people in the ghetto are given to survive, alongside well known stories and beliefs in religion. The point being to expose the absurdity. He is trying to make you challenge what you believe, and focus more on the world in which you live.

I will always stand by this statement. Religion and its texts should never be evaluated to a person or entity who claims to follow that religion. I will not use a church, man, or cult as a reason why my religion is bad. Schism after schism, reformations, crusades, Ill-religious practices will all be condemned by me, but I will stick to my core principles. A lot of people's, particularly atheists, use whatever evil parent or cult like church they had as a justification to hate the religion. I represent myself. There have been some solid replies on here regarding the religiousity of Tupac/this song, so I'll leave that angle alone. But what I would recommend is going back and listening to some of Tupac's earlier songs, especially from Me Against The World. 'Blasphemy' was off of his last album '7 Day Theory', which wasn't even out at the time of his murder. And while it's an excellent album, I'd say it's a lot more (to some degree) ambiguous and slightly paranoid than the rest of his music...and for justified reasons, given he was killed without any form of justice. He became a slightly different person, or at least was coping with trauma more, after his experience in prison, along with being set up by Puff Daddy and Andre Harrell in an attempt to take his life at the lobby of their record company in the early 90s. In jail is where people planted the seed in his mind that B.I.G had been the one to set him up, but really it was that Harrell and Puff Daddy were retaliating against him for not signing with their label a short time before...I think that's the reason for the lyrics in this song "is God just another cop (label exec) waiting to beat my ass if I don't go pop (sign a record deal and stop talking about real stuff)?". Anyhow...sorry for the essay, but I think you might have an easier time following Tupac's life/story if you listened to songs like "Still I Rise", "Me Against The World", "Lord Knows", etc.. those are songs, imo, that tell some of his story/mind in a more digestible way. Another quick point is that a lot of his music is allegorical. I think sometimes people see him as being a person with a lot of duality and different personalities, which is somewhat true, but really I'd say he was a brilliant dramatist, sort of like Shakespeare, and he had a gift of being able to tell the stories of thousands of people and perspectives in a way that sounded so real it seems like he lived a thousand different lives. Love the rap reactions, and apologies for the novel here!

Tupac’s story telling is always 3-fold; 1st verse = a story, 2nd verse = wider audience, 3rd verse = a lesson... Tupac believed in God, but didn’t buy into ‘organised religion’.

So for the ones living in the hood, we love so hard enough to know that if an environment or not depending on government because they don’t care, constantly being harassed, niggas inda hood are frontline protecting an entire nation from all corners of this corrupt system. This is originally our homeland and with black generational warning signs we’re smart enough to know after 400 years of slavery and not knowing who we truly are because of whitewashing is causing concern to the split of the black community. Everyone just wants to be happy and survive but the ones controlling are taking away from the people and are now angry. Rap comes with many styles but also describes about mistreatment and abuse young black successful rappers receive & with 2pac being unique he went above & beyond just hood life and found out a bigger source of why all of this is. In 2023 with the pentagon confirming UFOs, Covid-19 and with blacks not knowing our real identity there’s so much goin on. Blacks we have to stay strong and this has been an ongoing problem for 400 plus years. We’ll stop killing our own at some point and come together in this white manz world He left an impact on whoever listens to him. It feels like he traveled back in time to warn us The hate u gave little infants fucks everyone

Try to remember who the artist is. He is a member of an oppressed minority group (Jews/Blacks) in a large empire (Egypt/US) told to believe in his oppressor's religion (Egyptian Pantheon/Christianity). A religion that extorts his family for money (taxation/collection bucket) while providing the moral justification for their own oppression (slavery/poverty). He is the son of these poor people, who was recently killed after being crucified (vilified by the media) for preaching an alternative gospel. Now days later, he comes back to life in the form of his own gospel (the music). A gospel which directly contradicts the precepts of the oppressor's religion. His gospel rejects the self-effacing spirituality of Christianity, mocks the unreliable promise of a heavenly reward in the next life, and doubts the existence of an extra-dimensional Hell. He replaces these things with with an exhortation to cunning and pragmatism in this life, the promised reward of material riches if you do this, and the punishment of living life at the bottom of the social ladder as a poverty stricken drug addict burning eternally in the fire of withdrawal and chemical dependency if you fail. His religion replaces faux spirituality with frank materialism. Magical lies designed to oppress, with harsh truths designed to empower. Thus, his miracles are similarly down to Earth. Moses split the Red Sea. But he splits a blunt. Which one do you believe really happened. He is coming for the parishes Pharaoh's kids, because his music is mostly being purchased by well off white kids who will be subverted (converted) by it. Babylon beware. This song was released after he died on the first album sporting the name "Makavelli". This is a reference to Niccolo Machiavelli, a materialist Renaissance philosopher who wrote a series of lessons to a young prince. In his instructions to the prince, he heavily implied that religion, supernatural myths & the concept of spirituality were clever weapons through which a wise ruler could maintain power & social control.

Pac was very philosophical indeed. With THUG it also stood for The Hate U Give. Not sure if he came up with or. And on Pac’s 2nd Album Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. Stood for Never Ignorant Getting Goals Accomplished. I can’t say how religious Pac was but he did speak a lot about God and almost like he was trying to have a conversation with him and understand why things are so crazy here. Great work by the way.

In 2PAC artistry he was comparing himself to Jesus Or God therefore you see the cover of the Makaveli album . The rules that his Father was telling him was not from his earthly “Father “ in the first verse he was metaphorically God giving him the rules he saying God is his Father so this is Blasphemy for man to call himself God or comparing himself to God in the Christian text .This song is deep

The thug life and Christian life are opposite but his version of thug life means that he was raised in an environment where everything is built for you to fail and everyone is considered a “Thug” because of where you came from so he took “Thug Life” as an acronym for The Hate U Give Little Infants Fucks Everyone. So when he says Thug Life he is emrbracing people’s perceptions of him and that he is a thug and proud to be one because that is what society made him.

He was very religious actually. Extremely intelligent as well. On top of that more socially aware than half of the politicians at the time. For punishment, starting as a child, he was made to read the New York Times cover to cover. There is actually a class at Harvard based specifically on his poetry. Smart dude.
