I think rules like this from American and European stylists are good guidelines for their target market audience - Caucasian, normal to fine hair. But I do a lot of Asian hair with a tight, resistant cuticle and if I did low and slow I’d have a lot of unwanted redheads walking around or really long processing times. I think stylists need to use common sense and our knowledge of texture, porosity, density and starting level to determine formulas.

Stacy Young Exactly Stacey that is exactly how it works but my point is when people are using low and slow and misunderstanding what it is all about they are breaking the manufacturers guidelines I have read many an article on line people advocating to break manufacturers guidelines not necessarily even being aware that they are advocating such things but if you break the manufacturers guidelines and something as well the consequences can be devastating as I’m sure you’re aware 😁👍🏻

I do have black asian hair and when I went to to my hair stylist (to get a purple hair), she used different volumes in different parts of my hair... but from what I heard her talking to the assistant, she used 10, 20 and 30v... It took more than two hours to lift until a pale yellow, but I felt basically no damage afterwards... I mean, really back in the past I did have a perm and the hair felt more dried on those days than recently, after bleaching... Olaplex miracles, maybe?

Olaplex doesn't actually reverse damage, only "masks" it, in my humble opinion. I say that as someone who has bleached her hair many times and had a lot of damage. Once the hair is damaged, nothing truly fixes it.

Super great video. Really interesting illustration and experiment ! Bleach formulation itself is so important. Wholesale beauty places in my community have really low cost but high quality developer and blue powder bleach. I've always had my best success with powder as it thickens with developer so that you can fully saturate the hair. With box bleach it was always too runny and they go with their own ratios that may not always give desired consistency. They also mix other chemicals for scent that really doesn't matter or contribute to colour at the end. Also wear gloves always lol I lifted my hair four times, the first two times I went in brave hand painting but then my skin started peeling quite bad and burned a lot. I'm basically saying I've learned to use gloves, they are great, don't be lazy like me.

I would like to say that the alkaline mixture may have the same pH but the strength of pushing through the keratin layers depends on the peroxide vol. pushing quickly though keratin bonds of hair causes damage or breakage to hair strands. After 50_60 minutes we can wash hair to complete bleaching the next visit. or we can remove the mixture between fingers and put a new mixture on the same visit according to the state

Hope you have a lot of success, you really deserve a lot of subs
@TheLifeOfHair

Superb I hope it turned out well?! I Thanks for the Sub. For neon pink hair I would say we need to get it closer to 9/10 rather that 8 However you don’t really need it to be a 10, I recommend neutralising the hair with a violet colour before you apply the pink to have the most neutral platform to apply your pink too 👍🏻

So I’ve been bleaching my hair for a while now ever since a hair stylist burn the hell out of my hair 🙃🙃 it was horrible. I found a method that has helped me a lot when lifting the color of my hair I have a level 2 or 3 hair. So when retouching my roots I go in with a hair color a blonde color and just mix it with peroxide 30 vol. the hair dye advertises that it can lift up to 5 levels and it gets it to a 5 or 6 level which is like a gold orange. Then I go ahead and apply actual bleach after I left my hair rest from the application I’ve done before with the hair dye. Doing that method has safe my hair a lot from damage and it lifts way faster. So I honestly I just be doing one round of bleach when usually it can take up to 2 rounds of bleach to get it to a 9 level hair

Little did I know that this method was used buy others and actually is ok to do. Also didn't think about using the high lift color first before any bleach. Would it be possible to keep using the high lift blonde to gradually lift the hair untill it reached the actual light blonde color, without any bleach?

Idk if it s just ur camera but i see all the results darker than u said (vol 40 looks nothing like a lv 9 to me lol) . Also about the low and slow i personaly find it less damaging to the hair (especialy virgin hair) but it takes more time then i usualy have so unless i get lot of free time i would straight go for vol40 or 30...and the manufacture time isn't that useful on my clients (lv3 lv4 mostly) , it would never lift to a bright blond in 50mns . I just check my foils and the hair elasticity every now and then , but it takes usualy 1h30 to process (if the hair is healthy enough for that prosessing time)

Course it is a bit tricky to accurately represent the colour sometime some video I am working on this I only have new cameras now since I first from this video. The only problem with manufacturers guidelines is that they don’t always feel the modern requirements of what is expected But if we don’t stick to them and something is wrong then the manufacturer will not cover us so it’s a little bit of a tricky situation to manufacturer to have longer recommended development times now

How mush time does silver hair color toned with bleu hair dye stay?
@TheLifeOfHair
4 жыл бұрын
Well is a very difficult question to answer it’s a bit like saying how long is a piece of string it is dependent on porosity, natural hair texture, how many times it’s been coloured prior to having the blue silver colour put on it how many times it’s had the blue silver toner applied to the hair. But here’s a few guidelines if it is a demi permanent colour it will last around 20 washes if it is a semipermanent colour it should only last a couple of washes and if it is a permanent colour Presuming you are putting this over already bleached hair I don’t think it would last much longer than a demi permanent due to the extra damage that permanent colours will cause making the hair more porous and this will inevitably create a shorter lifespan of any colour. However if the hair has been bleached and the hair is very porous using a semipermanent colour can sometimes be more permanent than Are demi permanent due to the porosity the colour can penetrate much deeper into the hair because the Hair cuticles are open So this is always something to bear in mind is great if you want the colour to last but if you don’t then proceed with caution. I hope this answers your question 😁👍🏻

I went from waist length to collarbone length in 1 year because of the damage lol Now I really want to lighten it to a cool light brown shade and I want to use a very ashy dye to tone it but I don't know wheter I should use bleach powder + developer (20 vol) and then use the dye, or just use the dye with 30 volume developer.. Can you do a video and explain what kind of shampoo to use after highlights/ and or color? How long after services, when is the best time to shampoo your hair? I sometimes I feel like my hair changes color after I shampoo it. I usually get highlights and lowlights. I have short hair (not by choice) I don’t shampoo for at least 3-4 days after. I don’t use cheap products, usually Redken, Olaplex, Matrix, JVN. I never use the same products over and over, is this okay? What are your thoughts?

If I do a full head of highlights in 50 minutes with 30v on a level 7 (just roots) would I need to start taking the back out straight away? Or would you recommend I start with 20v & halfway use 30v.
@TheLifeOfHair
4 жыл бұрын
Personally I use both of these depending on the scenario if I’ve got loads of time on my hands then I will take the back out when I finished the top. But if I’m Straight into another client I use 10vol into 20vol or 20vol into 30vol depending on the desired level of lift depending on the natural level for instance on the level you’re saying a level seven I would more than likely use 10 vol going into 20 vol 😁👍🏻

When you said cobalt blue do you obviously want it To be blue in any light conditions or are you talking about when the light catches it you can see the blue?

For bleaching roots, instead of low and slow with 20 vol, would 30 vol be more appropriate? (for dark brown roots that cannot lift to pale yellow with 20 vol if left on only for an hour)

I have a question :) My natural hair is dark brown and i have grey hair. Right now hair cut is very short, without any dye. Later planing to go on blond. But please can you tell me if i will use 30 vol developer ones to go up in levels, should i repet one more time bleaching with 30 vol to go totally light and than dye with blond hair color? Should i bleach it and keep it for 30 min only? Scare not to damage. Roots want to bleach with 20 vol. is it ok? Thank you and will wait for respond 🌹

@@TheLifeOfHair if my hair is curly and thick and it reaches right above my chest how many scoops of bleach do I need?

So do you think doing multiple bleach baths is more damaging than one or two bleaching sessions ?
@TheLifeOfHair
4 жыл бұрын
That’s a fantastic question And the answer lies in the alkalinity so basically the longer the hair is left alkaline the more damage you will do this time is a cumulative as well. so the best solution to the least amount of damage is to get the job done in the least amount of time. I hope that makes sense 👍🏻

i have very dark brown hair that’s never been bleached, and i got a 40 & 20 volume developer. is it safe for me to use the 40 volume developer or should i dilute it with water?
@TheLifeOfHair

I personally use 40v quite a lot in the salon the thing about using 40 V is that you need to get it on and off as quickly as possible when I say as quickly as possible obviously you still need to develop it to the point where you are getting the results that you desire putting 20 volume on the scalp first for the first 1 cm is a great idea because applying 40 volume to the scalp is never recommended

I used a 20 volume I had to be very fast at putting it on my friend said to leave it on for 45 minutes I only left it on for 6 minutes it developed extremely fast from dark brown to yellow blonde and a bit of orange. I didn’t listen to my friend as I would be bald. I was afraid just leaving it on for the little time I did. Then I rinsed Shampooed and conditioned. I had some hair fall out a few clumps but that was enough to know not to beach again. She wanted me 2 bleach a second time before I put the Color on the same day. I didn’t put the Color on right away I waited and made sure my hair wasn’t falling out before I decided to color. Very scared getting friends advise. I waited 2 or 3 days I made sure I used opelex number 3 and left it on over night then I put conditioner on it was getting life back I was scared I thought my hair was to soft and was going to die on me. How could she I won’t say named think that I should leave bleach on my hair for 45 minutes. I only had it on for 5 min. ThankGod I didn’t apply it at the roots and I did the roots last. I was afraid it was hot in one spot I got the beach on as fast as I got it off. Found out you can loose all your hair or else have burns on the scallop. Ouch

Hi thank you for your question unfortunately when you’ve got curly hair and you breach at your hair curl patterns Will suffer there are things that you can do like using lower volumes and not risking it too late and using products like Olaplex to lessen the impact Of bleaching your hair but generally speaking he will always have less curly hair when you bleach it it’s the nature of breaking down the colour Molecules and the proteins in the hair

I've been searching on google and youtube for a long time because I'm planning on lightening my hair from a brown, so I'm able to get some vibrant colour from semi permanent hair dye, and I found this video most useful so thank you. I'm wondering if you could help me put with the meaning of toner?
@TheLifeOfHair
4 жыл бұрын
Hello Amy Lou I’m glad you enjoyed the video, A toner is to do pretty much exactly what it says change the tone, For example if the hair is yellow I your put violet on it you will get a neutral colour should therefore you have toned the hair to neutral 😁👍🏻
