Mind. Blown. I have only ever seen people use circles as custom bone shapes, so I had assumed that you could only use simple shapes. That and the 1 Unit long is the length of the bone has just opened up huge posibilities. Thank You.

Also I recommend his rigging course!!! I think many people learning 3D graphic SW to make their own art or own movie. To achieve this goal you have to animate something... Objects, particle or etc... but if you wanna tell a story, you have to move the CHARACTER - who drives the story. So I think rigging a character is very core skill and technique.. He's course has many principle of rigging. It's very unique things.. I checked many rigging courses (maya, c4d.. etc... on youtube and also paid course) but I think his rigging course is one of most robust and deep tutorial in the Online course contents market. It will be little hard at first watching, but if you follow the course step by step, It could be more easier.. I recommend it. :)

With the news of animation updates being delayed to 2022 in Blender I think I will definitely be getting some of your tutorials this year when I have some time.

Thanks, and, whatever the update they are planning, the tools evolve but the fundamentals are the same. 90% of what I've learned on 2.6 is still relevent today.

@@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN Oh that's interesting. I only started in 2.8 alpha and kept a log of your rigging course when it first came out as it looked like the best one to "teach you how to fish" rather than "give you the fish to eat" . You seem to cover all the basics but go into the advanced stuff too, it looks really interesting. But I wanted to wait in case there were any more major changes in Blender. Looking forward to checking it out soon.

The course is compatible with 2.92 and I think of creating additional content for it to keep it up to date. As I don’t believe the workflow will change anytime soon.

Learned so much! I'm curious about the controller that is stuck to the face. Do you find that when multiple controllers of this type are applied, that the rig performance starts to suffer noticeably?

Hi MAte, I've never pushed it that far but I believe it shhould not be a problem. I don't use this tip taht much as I mostly rig game character with simplified facial features.

To make a circle the same size as a bone, should the circle be 2 Blender units (twice its radius)?

It is possible use curve as custom shape. You need add almost any generative modifier to curve (Bevel, Edge split, Mirror, Subd etc). I'm on 2.90 right now and this is working for me.

Yes, or you can simply extrude the curve in the curve option. Basicaly you need something that creates polygons. So in a way, it converts your spline, into a mesh objecxt, at least at the display level.
