What an awesome finale! Looked great rotating even with that overkill blender. Plan B looks great with the motor selection, however that gearset looks pretty unsupported, I had this problem when designing a 90-degree power transmission too. I'd look into miter/bevel gears, try to use at least 3 gears to form strong support, gears will only transmit as much torque as the supporting structure around the gears can handle

Great suggestion, I’ll give it some thought! I had a differently configured motor mount with more support, but it wasn’t connecting the gears strongly enough, so I took a reciprocating saw to it and made some modifications

The little glowy dots on the bottom are the being slowly grinding off... Actually really fast lol.... Good thing you are tweaking it. Because you need to slow it down or change materials and or tolerances etc lol. Don't forget friction heat affects it all!

I do robotics in school with my friends, and I love that feeling when there is an off chance something you built will work as intended and off the bat its almost perfect. You could use a variac or a pwm controller for the blender speed. Setting one looks like it could work longer and have less chance of failure keeping the speed a little lower. Cool project. I hope to get a 3d printer soon.

I love it. I just wish you had used 6 color faces more like a normal gear cube, so that it rotates between solved and unsolved states while on the mount. You could still print thin faces to put over top to achieve this, though the oddly colored gear teeth would shine though.

dude, i followed casually from yt recommendations. I’m now hooked. Great content idea to let people turn it. Add a gear reduction to the stepper. Although i would love to see the resilience of the planetary gears with a third stage and keep perfecting the design. Would be great to see it break live 😂 i’m guessing you can use relays instead of the speed knob in the blender to give chat access.

Definitely recommend updating the gearset to work better with sensible plan b. That blender is waaayyyy too powerful and the sense of awe is lost due to the speed and wobbly nature. A slower setting will definitely improve the project! Either way, it’s been loads of fun watching you work on this!

You could possibly use a solid state relay and pwm to allow people to control and allow it down some. SSRs are limiting when it comes to pwm though
