Blender 4 hasn't charged the process. Just set the Stereo mode to Side-by-side. Even after you render it, you won't see the side by side image until you save it to an image file.

It depends on your definition of VR. You'll be able to look around 360⁰, but you won't be able to "walk around" in the environment.

Hello ! Thanks for the tutorial :) So for this render you made 0 keyframes ? just place the camera in the right spot and it will make the 360° turn by itself ? And also after doing this, it will create a PNG sequence that I can put in after effect just like any other animation ?
@AmortMedia
2 жыл бұрын
Using 0 keyframes will create a stationary camera, leaving rotation to the end user by looking around with a VR headset. If you want to add motion to the camera, you can keyframe it like you would in a normal (non 3d/360⁰) scene. The viewer will still be able to look around, it may just be a little more disorienting for them.

Hi, When using vr head set, is there difference in rendering in 360 3d and 360 only? Will the additional 3D make the scenes more immersive? Thank you
@AmortMedia

Yes. Rendering in stereoscopic 3D & 360, creates one 360 degree panorama for each eye. This means the final image has a sense of depth that would be unachievable with a single 360 image.

I’m just wondering if it is possible to upload an interactive 360° video with sound on Facebook? I’m just thinking of a more immersive experience on Facebook since static contents are already becoming dull for me, and I believe these 360° videos with music are exciting “portals to another world” especially to those people who are seeking some form of refuge amidst this unfortunate time of pandemic. Assuming it's just rendering 2 spherical images with offset positions, wouldn't the effect be completely dysfunctional when you look 90 degrees to the side? ( since it's only capturing a discrete single relative eye position ) And even inverted when you look behind yourself? Wouldn't it make more sense to save a single image and a depth/normal map? If you rendered from 3 or 4 positions instead of 2, I imagine modern software could be able to interpolate the correct view pretty well, but 2 definitely seems too few.
@AmortMedia
6 ай бұрын
I thought the same thing at first, but that assumption is incorrect. Blender is doing some clever trickory behind the scenes to make it work. Imagine you have a stereo camera on a tripod. The camera has two lenses spaced apart from each other the same distance as two human eyes. Each lens of the camera would be on either side of where the tripod pivot point is, so when the camera is spun around 360 degrees to capture a panorama, each lens is in the correct location for every angle because it's not rotating on it's own pivot point, but rather the pivot point of the camera as a whole. The neat thing is that Blender knows how to achieve this without rendering a bunch of separate images and stitching them together.
@UCKY5

@AmortMedia
8 ай бұрын
Blender will fit the equirectangular view to whatever resolution you have it set to. I've never had any problems with 16:9, but it wouldn't surprise me if some playback applications require a 2:1 image. I imagine 2:1 is approximately the correct ratio to keep vertical and horizontal resolution even when viewed in 360. In other words, if you rendered 4096 x 512, you'd have plenty of horizontal resolution, but it would likely appear to have vertical blurring due to the poor vertical resolution.

@AmortMedia

Rendering an HDRI environment without any objects in the scene should render quickly. HDRIs are 360⁰, but not 3D, so don't expect it to have any depth. Depending on how you're viewing your 360⁰ images, you might be able to view the HDRI directly without rendering it through Blender.

You must first inject the proper metadata into the video so KZitem knows how to handle it. This can be done in some major video editing applications like Adobe Premiere, but you could also try a standalone application like "Spatial Media Metadata Injector" which can be found here (I've never used it, but it looks pretty simple) www.schoolfreeware.com/freeware_spatial_media_metadata_injector_download.html.

how would i make this i to a 3d video?
@AmortMedia
4 жыл бұрын
The simple answer it this: In the "Render" menu select "render animation". Doing this will render a PNG image sequence which can be assembled into an animation. If you want to export directly to a video file, you can go to Output Properties/Output/File Format, and change it from PNG to one of the movie formats. The biggest limitation is that the only way to play a 3D 360 video is with a VR headset, which can be cost prohibitive. If you have a Samsung smartphone that works with the Samsung gear VR headset, that's probably the cheapest option at ~$20-40 USD, but otherwise options are pretty limited.
@AmortMedia

@Afnan Kira It took 46 minutes to render 1 frame at 4k resolution with my Nvidia GTX 1070 (project set to 128 samples). 10 seconds of animation would have taken me 184 hours (7.6 days) of rendering.
@AmortMedia
4 жыл бұрын
@Afnan Kira The VR user can control the rotation, by looking around. However, the only way to "move around" in the scene is to animate (keyframe) the location of the camera.
@AmortMedia
4 жыл бұрын
@Afnan KiraThough it is possible to do so, the path tracing sample value should not be animated. Usually I set the render samples somewhere between 128 and 2048 and the viewport samples somewhere between 8 and 32 depending on the complexity of the scene.
@AmortMedia
4 жыл бұрын
@Afnan Kira No, keyframing is not necessary. Lower render samples = faster render but more grain/noise. Higher render samples = slower render but higher quality. Depending on your scene, you may be able to get away with fewer samples and still have it look ok, but most scenes will require more.
