Scott Raynor... such an underrated drummer. Travis took Blink to the next level, but as a drummer myself Scott was pretty influential on me because when I first started teaching myself how to drum, I used to drum along to their albums Cheshire Cat and Dude Ranch just as much as Enema of the State and all 3 albums really helped me get my chops down and play fast and clean on my kit. The first Blink song I ever learned how to play on drums was Carousel.

These guys played at my High School in Encinitas, CA. (in North County San Diego) back in 94-95. They handed out copies of their new (first) album Cheshire Cat on cassette tape and C.D. We had an outdoor stage called the roundabout theatre, and they played during lunch. It was epic. I’ll never forget it! They were so humble and kind and had the chilliest vibe. I saw them at local house parties from about 92-96 when I moved to Colorado~ I’ll never forget when they played in the radio and u freaked out!! Also saw them at SOMA live when they were still an opener playing on the side stage, then again for the May Day fest at S.D. Sports Arena. Those were the days! San Dieguito High class of ‘95 we killed it!

This is how I remember them when I saw them open up for The Circle Jerks @ Soma in San Diego 1995ish. They were just Blink and considering it was a long time since Circle Jerks had a record and toured, Blink had a shit load of ppl to see them exclusively and having no idea who The Circle Jerks were! Haha. I also saw this lineup at 97' Warped Tour and since it was San Diego Blink 182 closed the show and there was no one leaving early. Dude Ranch material was most prominent. Crazy coincidence was Travis was at that show, drumming for the Aquabats and they all dove into the San Diego Bay at the end of their set on the Ernie Ball Up & Comers side side stage right off this jetti that we all had to take a tram to @ the beginning of the day & the end of it. God I want to move back home so bad. EDIT: Almost every outdoor mall in San Diego has that same architecture, Santa Fe-ish, La Jolla Town Center but they didnt have a roller coaster. People commenting wildly on the drums without substance. This is perfect punk drumming. Go and listen to the greatest US punk drummer of all time Lucky Lehrer on Group Sex and you will hear punk drumming. Barker is more of a rock drummer crossed with EDM. I mean listen to Feeling It. He even imitates Bonham in that one. Even when the temp picks up at times he plays all this hi-hat EDM stuff which sounds like it is played at half time when what the music really requires is this. Sometimes I think he thinks more about his own playing rather than the song. Saying that it never harmed Keith Moon's legacy.

You and I should get away for awhile I just want to be alone with your smile Buy some candy and cigarettes and we'll get in my car We'll blast the stereo and we'll drive to Madagascar Because when I'm with you there's nothing I wouldn't do I just want to be your only one I'm grasping out at straws thinking back to what I saw That night on the floor when we were all alone My love life was getting so bland There are only so many ways I can make love with my hand Sometimes it makes me want to laugh Sometimes I want to take my toaster in the bath Because when I'm with you there's nothing I wouldn't do I just want to be your only one I'm grasping out at straws thinking back to what I saw That night on the floor when we were all alone Who's gonna be the odd man out? I don't want to be the odd man out Is this going to be the end Or are you going to be my new girlfriend?

+NoNameFitz you don't need to be a crazy musician to write good stuff... tom and scoot and mark weren't the best musicians to say the least, by damn... did they wrote good songs together. the mid 90s were the best times for blink, skate/chicks/punk that's the best spirit.

Blink was the first band I ever saw. Perth western Australia. Upstairs was under 18 and bottom floor was over 18. Id check was at the door, not the bar. So we just jumped from the 1st floor to the moshpit. The over 18s were kind enough to break the fall of a 16 year old, weighing at 50kg max. Great night. MAC PELICAN were supporting that's all I remember.

I think people sometimes miss the importance of the difference between blink early day, and late days. Scott was a massive punk themed drummer, and that told in his work with the band, but he also had hi own life plans, and thats ok, that actually what normal people do for a back up plan. Trav on the other hand, seemed to have this much more professional approach, though I don't think we saw it on the first album he was on, or at least, wasn't meant to see it. Who's the better drummer, well that up to the individual. Trav has always had my support, its always hard to walk into another's shoes, and he pulled it off. But I mis Scott as well (old Fart I Am) Cheers Blink Fans, stay cool, stay punk, and enjoy life, We only get one

He's a drummer alright. He is good as a skate punk drummer (usually they suck) but I don't think he could play Adam's Song or I Miss You. He is out of time slightly in carousel and other songs but not bad.
