I remember this storm well. I was seven years old and lived in Camden, NJ. We got buried in over 2 feet of snow. Which as a kid was totally and completely fantastic. I built a ramp of snow up to the second story awning of our house with the snow and took my sled out the back window. Was pretty fun. Oh and no school for days was great too. We helped my grandparents dig out of the snow and piled it up until it was taller than the fences around the yard. Was a great time to be a kid. 1996 was a great year. I mean this and hale bop comet and Hey Arnold starting on Nickelodeon. Cmon! Sigh I miss the 90's.

Blizzard of '96! Woo hoo! I remember it well. it was the first time they closed NYC public schools since the storm in 1978. I remember when they announced that the schools will be closed, my little brother and I cheered and jumped for joy around the house. I was a junior in high school then and would have loved any excuse to stay home.

Wow. This brings back deep memories. I remember as a kid always hoping for that large snowflake in the extended forecast, the feeling it gave me is still palpable a quarter century later. I remember vaguely the day I saw "Heavy Snow" in the forecast, I think 4 days priot. The storm I remember vividly, I was 9 years old. During the second day of the storm the dark gray skies were puking snow the whole time. I lived (and grew up) within a km ofTeterboro Airport and we got right around 35 inches. I remember the path my father shoveled from the driveway to the porch was deeper than it was wide, the snow drifts reached the roofs of houses, the icicles a week later became foot-thick pillars between the second and first story roofing of my house, the beige-green snot rockets my friend's alcoholic father blew into the snow Bank in front of his house froze and were visible fast days. I'll never forget that time in my life.

Hey my birthday was the next day. I turned 14. Philly was so quiet, it was like a ghost town covered in snow. That was one of the funnest winter weeks I had in my life. You would walk on top of cars and not even know because the snow was so deep.

I have a rule that I enforce for myself (especially this winter) that says "no snowfall accumulation predictions will be made more than 12 hours before the storm hits!" I don't think it's wise to go out on a limb and predict snow accumulations for a Sunday on a Friday for example.

@Intelliguy yup I remember the President's day blizzard of 2003 here in new york. Central Park, got 19.8 inches. I was 12 at the time and my entire family (including myself) was sick at the time. As a result, our house area was not shoveled for days. To make things worse, neither was our block. We were snowbound until that friday. luckily it occured during our winter break

I live in central NJ. How much snow do you estimate my area will get? The local forecast earlier said 1 to 2 inches, but if this is like the Superstorm from March, 1993, it could be more...much more. That's why I'm asking.

The Superstorm threat has been cancelled because the Sub-Tropical Jet and the Polar Jet will not combine at the right place. All that I can say is that Central NJ will have 3-6" of snow. However, there is a colder and stormier pattern by Mid-February to Early March and we may have a Historic Major Nor'easter if the NAO is deeply negative and the PNA is somewhat Positive. Also, the Stratospheric Layer of the Atmosphere will be very warm at February 15th. I will monitor the situation carefully. :D
