Which prayers are ignored or hindered prayers?
Psa 66:18 ISV Were I to cherish iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not listen to me.
This means that Yahweh doesn't listen to us if we wilfully cherish sin in our hearts.
Isa 59:2 WEB But your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.
This portion of Scripture tells us that our sins block our prayers.
Which prayers delight Yahweh?
1. Prayer of the righteous
Pro 15:8 WEB The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
Yahweh is pleased when the righteous pray.
Jas 5:16 ISV Therefore, make it your habit to confess your sins to one another and to pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Here we see that the prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. We've seen why. It's because Yahweh delights in it.
1 Pe 3:12 WEB For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
And here we see that Yahweh is always listening for the prayer of the righteous.
2. Prayer of salvation
Rom 10:9 WEB that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
There are 2 prayers from sinners that Yahweh will accept. The first one is the prayer of salvation. This is a prayer of faith.
3. Prayer of Repentance
Salvation requires repentance which means turning away from our old sinful practices and seeking to do Yahweh’s will.
We read
2 Pe 3:9 WEB The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Luk 15:10 WEB Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting.”
From these portions of Scripture we understand that first we need to repent of our sins, then accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, and then walk in righteousness i.e. seeking to do that which pleases Yahweh our Heavenly Father.
Then we can have confidence that our prayers will be listened to and answered according to Yahweh’s will.
