Me and my mates spent hours playing this. We all had our own teams and created a mini league. I actually painted the outlines of the squares of the pitch to make it easier.

There's nothing that beats the colorful, vibrant vibes from the older GW games. Even stuff like 40K had very colorful palettes which I love. Of course the grimdark stuff is cool and edgy but the 80s-90s vibe is supreme

Great to see this. This was the edition of Blood Bowl that I had - that styrofoam pitch was really something! Weirdly, I remember the orcs being the green figures, and the humans the blue figures, though. (which would also make more sense since orcs are green!) There was also the expansion called Dungeon Bowl, which was the only way to get plastic Elf and Dwarf teams at the time.

I had an ogre team that had 4 ogre blockers, 2 ogre blitzers and 4 goblin catchers. This version large monsters counted as two players both on your 16 man roster and on the 11 on field. I played 4 blockers and 2 blitzers to match the human 4/2 maxes. The blitzers were either equal to or greater than every blocker stat so if not I would just play 6 blitzers. I started 3 blockers, both blitzers and one goblin to make my 11 on field.

This was my first introduction to the game. I didn't have 2nd ed but a friend and his brother did. We used to play it on school holidays, i'm not sure they told me the right rules so they won lots! 😂

Great video! I had most of the games on the sides of the box. I never bought Blood Bowl though. Back in the days when they actually sold games in the Games Workshop!

Thanks, just scored this for a great deal, and was only missing one of the tiny footballs. First board game.

You should try third edition, it’s Jervis masterpiece. The latest edition is a slight improvement

Dude! I was 78! I got paid a shiny penny if I worked hard. I never did though so had to make do with the moisture under the lagging 😔.

The Companion book includes lots of stuff provided in those White Dwarf Magazines and also rules for campaign, team creation, fan factors and weather and stuff... If I remember correctly :)

Hi Sasu. You are correct. I finally broke down and bought a copy on eBay. Now at last we have rules for our Dwarf death roller!

This is the one I had, plus both expansion books. Played it to death. The other book was red but can’t remember the title, it had a cheerleader on the cover?

The current version of blood Bowl uses cardboard for the dugouts and the pitch while the templates are plastic .

The modern game based on the living rulebook is a much better game. I am sort of annoyed at myself that I was put off by the pewter model price increase for 3rd edition where they wanted more money for 12 player teams than I payed for 16 in 2nd. Missed out on years of better game play. Picked it back up in 2005.
