Can I use the cleansing wipe to cleanse the area instead of using the astringent bottle?

Hi, I was taught to sanitize with hand sanitizer and then place a glove on the hand that sustained the cut with bandaid. I’m assuming we don’t really have to place that glove on?

American Polo thanks for the comment and question!! Such a valid point!! In the real world that’s exactly what you would do, band aid then glove but on the state board exam you just need to do what they ask you to do and the last step on the PSI task lines for the blood exposure service is to sanitize your hands. Keep it simple and don’t overthink it. But of course if you want to go above and beyond to for it you won’t get points marked against or for you. Hope this helps. Happy testing!!

@@zilkits476 Henry Polo You are absolutely correct.. As your former instructor I’m so glad you remembered to put a glove on the hand after placing a bandage on it..it just makes sense. The instructor in this post is doing so much without gloving that hand after the bandage. You were always a good student. Everything else was on point.

I was taught to put the glove on and apply pressure to the simulated cut, and then disinfect, then add the bandage over the simulated cut while the glove is still on. Is that correct for 2022 blood exposure procedure?
@zilkits476
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Michelle, thank you for commenting. You want to follow the procedure steps in order that are outlined in the PSI Handbook. Those are... 1. Wears gloves 2. Apply pressure to the cut to stop bleeding 3. Cleanses simulated cut 4. Bandage simulated cut 5. Properly disposes used materials 6. Properly disposes used implements 7. Sanitizes hands using a product labeled as hand sanitizer You could put one glove on one hand and do the simulated cut on the non dom. or you can put gloves on both hands and do it over the glove. Either way wouldnt lose points.

You don't have a video for the acrylic nail portion of exam. Is there one on KZitem that you recommend?

So do we need a actual first aid kit or if can be in a bag labelled first aid ?
@zilkits476

John- that’s a great question. You just need the supplies needed to preform the service. So a full first aid kit would work it had several items not needed. A baggy with a label and all the items needed works great!

Vanessa Bonilla great question!! You just have one bag for all the three separate sections of the chemical service part. The one big bag will contain all the product and brushes and draping gloves etc you need for the virgin color the high Lift retouch and virgin relaxer. Hope this helps. Happy testing

Vanessa Bonilla you could have one large container and then use a spatula to put into three separate bowls or you could have three separate containers that you just dip right into. Your Zil Kit comes with the easier option which is to have three separate containers.

You can’t use an alcohol wipe to stop the bleeding you need something Absorbent… like a gauze. You could use the astringent to cleanse the area instead of alcohol. Always here to help.

Why throw the shears in the garbage if they’ve been disinfected?

stephen reed great question! It’s actually just to get rid of them and get them off your station. You could leave them out on your station then at the end of the blood exposure place them in your trash. But seems easy enough to just bag them and get rid of them

What's the reason to clean shears, if you put your shears into biohazard bag with your dirty hazards?
@zilkits476
5 жыл бұрын
Tuya Tuya Greta question thank you for the comment! The point of disinfecting the scissors is to satisfy a task line that states we must disinfect our implement. The reason we throw them into the bio bag is just simply to get rid of them and move on. You could simply leave them out on your clean table then when the service is complete throw them in your main trash but this just speeds it up a bit and is totally acceptable.

Nece K thank u for your feedback but your information in incorrect. Directly from PSI testing company, just disinfect with your wipes or spray then discard or place on your station. No need for additional bags with labels etc. less is more. Be sure to check your sources and not over complicate things. Happy testing
