Does the arteriole muscular wall lead to a narrower lumen, causing a lower blood flow or am i misinterpreting this? Im just not sure how the wall thickness causes the decrease in blood if it has no effect on the lumen. Thanks for vid as usual

Hi Miss Estruch, at 0.50, in the picture it shows 'venules', how is this blood vessel different to the other blood vessels, and what is its function?
@MissEstruchBiology

Hello, venules aren't on the spec (not sure why not) so you don't need to know the details on this. These are the blood vessels which connect the capillaries to the veins.

@@MissEstruchBiology Thank you Miss Estruch, you had mentioned and explained it in the Tissue Fluid Video, and now with this response it now makes much more sense.

Hi, in the Aqa spec it says that we need to know ‘‘tissue fluid and it’s return to the circulatory system’ In terms of capillaries. What exactly does that mean? Thanks
@MissEstruchBiology
3 жыл бұрын
In terms of capillaries means that you know about the reabsorption of the liquid at the venule end of the capillary by osmosis ( as shown in this video). Hope that helps clarify 😊

Hi, Your specifications states: a) state that the mammalian circulatory system is a closed double circulation consisting of a heart, blood vessels and blood b) observe and make plan diagrams of the structure of arteries, veins and capillaries using prepared slides and be able to recognise these vessels using the light microscope c) explain the relationship between the structure and function of arteries, veins and capillaries This video only covers point c) Hope that helps

is this useful for OCR A too?
@MissEstruchBiology

yes! BUT for OCR you need to know about venules and collagen layers too.
